**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day again crew, well ya can take my word for it that there were some pretty nice waves hitting Kuta Reef a couple a hours ago ! I got out there at 10.30am and there were already a good 20 surfers enjoying the 2-4 footers. Unfortunately though the wind did the opposite of what I though it would do and swund around to the West blowing lightly on-shore @ 2-3knot. Still leaving the wave face nice and smooth. When I climbed back into the boat there were only 6 surfers left and more than enough waves. Center Reef located in between Kuta Reef and Middle Reef was drawing a bigger crowd with something like 25+ surfers catching 2-3ft lefts. Middle Reef was still getting the biggest share of the swell with wave height pushing 2-4ft+ on the freakies. Smaller and less consistent down at Airport left and Right’s. Actually right now @ 2.00pm the wind has indeed shifted around to the ESE and blowing off-shore here along Bali’s West Coast. Looks like I’ll still get to catch some more action on the other side of the tide now. Good waves to be had all over the island today and still a lot more to be caught before the days end ! An I gotta say thanks to DIVERSE SURFBOARDS for making me one of the best boards I’ve ever rode (6’2″ squash) absolutely pefect for Bali waves in the 3-4ft+ range. So tomorrow ya can count on seeing some new images or maybe some fresh video clips, what would ya prefer ? email me and let me know. ron.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Welcome back to the baliwaves and to all you potential reef riders tuning in for the first time ! Right on time, my 6.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showning a genuine increase in wave height. Currently the tide is at the bottom of a 1.0mtr Low water mark with the next High tide set to take place between 2.00-3.00pm this afternoon @ 2.0mtrs. Wave height on the Outer’s was ranging from 2-4ft+ and that was while the tide was on the bottom. Kuta Reef was showing good potential at a consistent 2-3ft. Middle Reef was breaking with more gusto @ 2-4ft and probably the best option (until the tide runs in justa little bit…) Airport Left was also breaking consistently @ 1-3ft. Wind direction was coming outta the North @ 2-4knot just after sun up, but will more than likely swing around to the ESE-SE as the day gets going and the Tradewind kicks in. More fantastic blue sky and sunshine is also coming at us again today and the temperature will bust into the low 30’s Celcius by midday. I tell ya’s it doesn’t get much better, although, the water temperature is sitting on 22 Celcius and perfect for boardies and bikini’s. There’s one other thing I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned. The worst thing about Bali. I’ve met thousands apon thousands of surfers holidaying throughout Bali and Indonesia and you know what they have all agreed on about being the worst thing about their surfing holiday. Everyone agree’s that the worst thing about Indo is when it’s time to leave, no one wants to go home. “Another week or two would be ok…” Anyway come over and find out how good a Bali Holiday is, for surfers. Alright then, it’s going to be a busy day for me, especially if I plan to sample a few Kuta Reef peelers and get ya’s some more stuff to look at as well. You lot have a good one and drop in later on and see what’s been happening here on your magical island of Bali. ron.
A little while back I mentioned something about baliwaves.com wanting to help out with a charity organisation carring for Balinese Orphans , by finding kind hearted folks to sponsor kids for their basic schooling needs. Well just for now if anyone would like a bit more information please send an email to: [email protected]
Purnie will be able to pass on all the info. I think it costs around AU$70.00 per year to provide a poor little kid with a school uniform, school fee’s and books plus pocket money.
Feel free to send us an email if ya have any questions that might help your next Indo surfing holiday run that bit smoother. Discounts into the G-Land camp of your choice. How to get over to Lakey Peak and still have money to spread around. Likewise if your looking for a cheap, clean and 100% surfer friendly place to home base at here in Bali.
Best Regards from Your Bali.
