**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day crew and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves. Yesterday I did make the run down to Uluwatu and was in the parking lot at 10.15am. Just checking it from up the top ya could see that it was pretty shifty and deceivingly shutting down. The 4 surfers in the water didn’t look to be having too much fun in the 4-6ft waves. So the carpark was just about as close as I got to setting up a camera. Coming back home past Impossible’s and Padang Padang I spotted a group of body boarders coming up the steps after a few end section pits I imagine. Across at Impossible’s there was no one riding the top end of the reef but I’m sure there woulda been a few surfers out further down. I also heard there were a few good barrels being rode at Bingin yesterday when the tide started draining out. And old “Tinno” reckoned Kuta Reef was winding out with the odd “head dip” in the 2-4ft class. This morning Kuta Reef wasn’t too bad before the wind started howling off-shore. Me and Tinno hit the water at 7.00am and there were only 5 others to share the 2-3 footers peeling away down the reef. We surfed it for an hour before the crowd arrived, we even rode one together and got in 5 cross-overs. Before paddling back to shore. Middle Reef was still producing 3-4ft+ waves and something like 15-20 surfers. Airport Left had plenty of 1-3 footers and the usual crew surfing it. Right now @ 12.15pm the off-shore ESE’r is cranked up into the 15-20 knot range and would be making it too bumpy on the Outer Reefs. I’d say places like the Racetrack down at Uluwatu and maybe even Bingin would be the best place to find a tude ride without too much wind involved later this afternoon on the 0.1 mtr Low Tide betwen 6.00-7.00pm. So I suppose I’m gunna have to call it day 15 of non-stop waves on the Outer Reefs of Tuban. Alright I’ll be putting in a big one for ya’s first thing tomorrow morning starting at Uluwatu’s Racetrack. So stay tuned or get on a plane and get over here ! Best Regards from Your Favourite Surfing Holiday Destination, Bali.
A little while back I mentioned something about baliwaves.com wanting to help out with a charity organisation carring for Balinese Orphans , by finding kind hearted folks to sponsor kids for their basic schooling needs. Surfer-girl won’t be involved with the Orphan Sponsorship Program as of the 12th of June. But we will find a way to keep it continuing, so drop us an email if you’d like to help out. It doesn’t cost much to provide a poor little kid with a school uniform, school fee’s and books.
Here’s a quick up-date on the Bali Orphan Project, last week baliwaves.com found sponsors for 3 unfortunate Balinese kiddies. Now if we can only keep the momentum going I know we can do some more, AU$8.00 per month per year for everything needed to put a child in school.
