**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello again and it’s time for the afternoon wrap on todays surfing conditions. Well the wind never quite co-operated for the crew in Bali today. It’s first directional change was looking good or about an hour as it did turn briefly to the SE giving us clean off-shore surfing conditions from Legian to Uluwatu. But by 1.00pm about the time I hit the trail for Uluwatu it had swung further around to the SSW and cross/on-shore at every location here along Bali’s West coast. As ya’s can see in the photographs I shot down there surfing conditions were still pretty smooth. There were only around 12 surfers in the water when I arived with wave height pushing 4 feet on the Main Peak section straight out the front of the cave entrance. There were also a few lines running along the reef on Temple’s and another 3 or 4 surfers having it all to themselves. As the tide started to run out around 3.00pm the Racetrack had a few small waves in the shoulder high class. Coming back home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there wasn’t a wave to be seen breaking anywhere. Tomorrow is looking like there’s not gunna be too much swell happening anywhere and might just be a good time to get some sport fishing in (for me anyway). The charts are saying we should have another swell arriving sometime in the next 72hrs plus or minus a bit. Ok for now and I’ll see ya’s in the morning to sea what’s going down surf and weather wise here on the holiday island of Bali.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning team and welcome back to another day of baliwaves. This morning I was down doing the surf recon of the Outer Reefs @ 6.30am. Apart from the fact that the tide was at the bottom of a very dry Low tide there was still some 1-3ft+ waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airports. This mornings Low Tide went down @ 6.00am @ 0.1 of a metre, and they don’t get much lower than that. Then we’ve got a 2.0mtr High happening @ 12.00 noon and one more Low just before the sun set this evening. Middle Reef was breaking very nicely with the low tide @ 2-3ft+ (overhead set waves), but with no one in the line up. Kuta Reef and Airports will have some fun sized waist to head high waves around mid morning when there’s a bit more water covering the reef. First up the wind was coming outta the East and off-shore but in the last half hour has shifted to the North, and to tell ya the truth, God only knows’s where she’ll end up. The Northerly wind provides clean off-shore wind at places like Medewi, Balian and Canggu. So those locations should have some clean little waves happening this morning. Weather wise the sky has got a thin layer of cloud up high that shouldn’t be sticking around too much longer before the sun starts to heat things up. Temperature wise it’s been hot and humid with the mercury easily busting into the mid 30’s Celcius, the water temp couldn’t be any better @ 23 degree’s Celcius and perfect for a dip. I’m gunna give it another hour or two and if the wind is still co-operating I’ll be heading down to Uluwatu to shoot ya’s some more photo’s and maybe even some video if the oportunity arises. I’d just like to give Mr Geoff Booth and his mates (GOLD COAST AUSTRALIA) a mention this morning and maybe I’ll be filling ya’s in a bit more on these guys over the next few days and beyond. Ok then reef riders that’s about us for the morning run down but tune in again later on for the afternoon wrap up on Bali’s surf and weather and anything else new that I load up !
