**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’day friends and welcome back for another look at the baliwaves ! First up I’ll give ya’s the wrap on how yesterday panned out cause I didn’t get time for the afternoon up-date. Yeah as soon as I got everything loaded up and answered 20 or so phone calls I shot through and went out Sport Fishing for the remainder of the day. When I pulled out past Airport Left @ 12.30pm wave height was still dribbling through in the 1 foot plus class and wind direction was coming outta the S-SW @ 2-5knot. I was on the gas going past Balangan and Bingin so I didn’t get much of a look at the waves but there wasn’t much happening there either. Hooking around Uluwatu (1.00pm) there were something like 20 surfers spread over the reef with wave height in the 2-3ft range and it looked pretty clean, considering the wind direction. As soon as I got around to the East side of Bali that’s when surfing conditions started to look much better, clean, smooth and glassy. Now this is where it gets tricky for me. I sometimes cop shit from unknown email assailants, (usually ex-pat/tourists) claiming I’m exposing “their private” surf spots. Pretty funny hey. Well going past Nyang Nyangs just around the corner and up a bit from Uluwatu there were some real nice looking waves breaking both left and right in the 2-4ft range, and no one in the water @ 1.30pm. Further along at Green Balls wave height was 2-3 ft (backs) and there were 3-5 surfers out there having fun. That’s were I saw the first big Spanish Mackeral do a 10ft leap and put my two trolling rods into action @ 2.00pm. Blah blah blah blah blah, I ended up with 2 nice Spaniards and dirty big Barracuda in the boat and headed back for Tuban @ 5.00pm, hitting the beach just after dark @ 7.00pm. This morning when I did the 6.45am surf recon of the Outer Reefs (Kuta Reef across to Airport Left/Right) if anything wave height seemed to have increased by half a foot but still looking pretty small in the 1-2ft class. Wind direction was coming lightly outta the West @1-2knot and surfing conditions were still smooth enough for a paddle here along the West Coast. Needless to say, Uluwatu or around on the East Coast would be the best place to find some waves in the head high plus range. Weather wise outside we’ve got another beauty coming on, lottsa blue sky and warm to hot beach temperature’s to be had. And that about sums it up. Firstly I’ve got two NEW video clips to load up for ya’s so stick around and check em out. Then I’m gunna be fuelling up the tank (a whole 25litres worth) and go a hunting Spanish Mackeral. I won’t have time for the arvo up-date so I’ll fill ya’s first thing tomorra ok. Oh yeah, I also received a copy of the photos taken at our 1st Bali Open Trolling Competition that went down last Sunday. Thanks to legendary Bali surf shredder Made Switra, so as soon as I get some time I’m going to be typing up the full run down on this Historic Event ! Have a good one and stay Happy.
