**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day surfers and thanks for callin by the baliwaves this arvo ! I was a bit busy teachin a young lassy from Ireland to surf so I didn’t get a chance for the early mornin type-up. Although I did get a look at the Outer Reefs (Kuta Reef to Airports) around 7.00am’ish. Actually wave height was slightly bigger in the morning with the odd 2 footer breaking on Middle Reef while Kuta Reef and Airports were only just in the 1 foot range. But as the tide filled in towards lunch time there was hardly a ripple breaking on the Outer Reefs. Down along the beach breaks of Kuta were I was doing some one on one there were a few little waves in the 1-2 foot range, good grommet size, but not much quality on offer. I’ve just received our first DAILY SMS SURF REPORT from LAKEY PEAK and my mate Made says; very small waves out on Lakey Peak this morning and he didn’t bother with going out for a paddle, wave height was only just pushing 1-1ft+. Occupancy wise there are a whole massive 15 surfers in the entire area (8 hotels) with the Aman Gati Hotel having a total of 3 guests. Back to Bali today and weather wise we’ve had a real sweater out there around the beach, I’d say temperature wise the mercury woulda hit 33 C by midday. Hopefully we’ll get some evening showers to cool things down. To start the day off wind direction was coming lightly outta the WNW @ 0-1knot but had swung further around to the SSW increasing to 3-5knot by 11.00am. Ok yesterday I was out shooting some video (from the back of a motor bike) to show ya’s just how quite it is over here at the moment, bugger all surfers in Bali.. I ended up cutting 6 new video clips with my journey starting on Kartika Plaza, Tuban then going around Poppies Lane 2 and then back down the main street of Legian. They are on site now so just flick through the Revver Video section until ya spot them. I also managed to do a 2-3 minute interview with a Balinese surfer, Made Dewa who has been working over at the Aman Gati Hotel right smack dab in front of the famous Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa, east of Bali. I’ll try and put that together for ya’s later this evening. I’m gunna be doing a lot of these interview type video clips over the coming weeks, so if ya wanna hear the news and views of the locals make sure ya stay tuned right here on the one and only Original and most Highly viewed website regading Bali’s surfing scene.
