**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy friends and thanks for calling round this arvo. Well I didn’t quite make it down to Uluwatu as ya’s can see in these latest photographs to come out of Bali. Green Balls was where I settled on as I know you lot don’t want to see the same location day after day. Anyway it was a tough call, Ulu or Greenies. I was heading for Uluwatu originally but then when the wind started picking up outta the WSW around 8.30am I thought stuff it I’ll hit the Eastern side of the Bukit. Then to confuse me even more, only 5 mins before I arrived at Green Balls the wind switched back to the ESE and straight off-shore back on the West Coast of Bali. As ya’s can see surfing conditions were still clean and glassy with wave height pushing the head high range or 3ft for the old school surfers. Only a total of 6 surfers riding the right hander and another 2 surfers riding the very fickle Left hander. Infact it’s probably the best I’ve ever seen the Left breaking ! I tell ya’s it’s definitly worth spending a day down at Green Balls the local crew have tidied up the car parking area and even put in a couple of small Bali style cafe’s, commonly know as “warungs” Hey and if ya wanna see monkeys don’t bother going to those monkey type parks where people get bitten on a daily basis, just head to Green Balls early morning or later in the afternoon and you’ll get to see plenty, and in their natural environment. Ok right now @ 5.00pm the suns still powered up and the sky still blue. Wind direction is still coming outta the ESE @ 4-7knot and straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Lets hope she hangs in there for a couple more days as we should see some new swell hitting the reefs sometime in the next 36-48hrs. That’s about it for now, call back in tomorrow morning and we’ll let ya know the score surf and weather wise.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’day surfers and welcome aboard the baliwaves daily (7/52) surf and weather report machine. It happened again late yesterday afternoon, the wind did the switcheroo from SW and on-shore back to SE and off-shore here along the West coast from Legian to Uluwatu. This morning I was down checking surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs around 6.30am and there hasn’t really been any further change in wave height. From Kuta Reef all the way down to Airports wave height would be lucky to be pushing waist high. The tide was also just coming off the bottom of a very dry and reef exposing 0.1mtr Low. Maybe as she runs up around mid morning we might even see a slight pulse, maybe. The next High Tide is set to go down just before lunch time @ 1.8mtr then to finish off the day we’ll get another 0.8mtr Low around 6.00pm. Earlier when I was down at the beach the wind direction was pretty hard to pick as there was bugger all, so what waves there was were clean and smooth. Weather wise around these parts of the island it’s pure holiday stuff with nothing but blue sky and sunshine coming on. As soon as I’ve got this stuff sorted out and another video clip of Padang Padang loaded onto the site I think I’ll take a spin down to Uluwatu. If there are any waves around the island, then that’s where we’ll be finding em. I’d also imagine that for anyone looking for an easier alternative the beach breaks up around the Kuta to Legian stretch would have some fun little peelers as the tide gets up to the top. Ok then have a good one out there what eva ya got scheduled in for today and drop back by later this arvo for a look at Uluwatu today. In the mean time take a look at those 25 video clips we’ve got loaded onto baliwaves.com.
