**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks, thanks for stoppin by the baliwaves this morning for Slims perspective on todays surfing and weather conditions around Bali. This mornings first surf recon of the Outer Reefs went down @ 6.45am and even though wave height has increased slightly it wasn’t looking too good, well for Bali standards anyway. Kuta Reef was ridable with wave height in the chest to head high range but with the wind blowing directly from behind coming outta the WEST and on-shore @ 4-7knot. Middle Reef was also attracting more swell than yesterday pushing up into the head high plus class. Airport Left was also kinda ridable @ 2-3 foot. The tide was still running out at that time and should bottom out around 10.30+ AM (estimation only). My two new friends from Russia, Seva and Larry also sent me an sms as they were down surfing the beach breaks @ 5.00am, these guys are dedicated. They reckoned they scored some ok waves all to themselves but said yesterday had better shape. I also bumped into “Devis” (Team Quicksilver Indonesia) earlier, just as he was heading off for Keramas . he surfed up there yesterday as well but reckoned it was still a bit small for his likes, only in the chest high range. But he was pretty confident on scoring some better waves up there today. I’ll be tracking him down later on for the full run down. Made has also reported in from over at LAKEY PEAK on the island of SUMBAWA (via sms). Made says; small waves in the 1-2ft class surfing conditions are bumpy with wind chop from the SW on-shore wind. Swell direction has changed slightly from SW to SSW and is on a period of 12 seconds on Lakey Peak. No one was in the water surfing and the total number of International surfers staying in the area has risen slightly to 25. Back in Bali weather conditions arn’t looking too bad outside. There were a few drops of rain earlier here in Tuban but now @ 8.30am we have a mainly blue sky above us. But I’m sure there’s rain falling in other area’s of the island, there were some nasty looking clouds still hanging over the southern “bukit” end of Bali. More warm to hot temperatures for the lucky bastards on holiday, and if ya could see my sunburned face from surfing yesterday you’d believe that it has been hot. I went for a bit if a cruise through Poppies Lane 2 and the main street of Legian yesterday afternoon and was pretty happy to see a big increase in the number of westerners wandering about, good on ya’s ! Ok I’ve gotta keep moving for now but don’t forget, like it says at the bottom of this page. Feel free to drop us a line if ya need any help with making YOUR next BALI HOLIDAY run that little bit smoother. See ya’s over here on the friendliest holiday island your eva gunna find in 2007.
