**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew, sorry to keep ya’s hangin around waiting for the latest but the surf was pretty good this morning up at Keramas over on the East Coast . I didn’t even get a look at the Outer Reefs here in Tuban cause it was still dark when we were tying down the boards. But it goes without saying that it woulda been crapolla out there between Kuta Reef and Airports . The wind was already blowing hard on-shore outta the West and on-shore right along the West coast at something like 6-10knot, even before sun-up. Me and the crew from Home Base arrived up at Keramas around 6.45am to find some absobloodylutely perfect waves peeling through in the 2-4ft range (shoulder to a few feet over head high). There were alreay half a dozen surfers in the water including Malcom from North Narabeen (Sydney), and that crew woulda been laughing right up until the time our crew turned up I reckon. The tide was still running up for a solid High so conditions were right and the waves cranking. Then around 9.00am the wind did a bit of a shift further around to the WSW-SSW taking the gloss outta the waves and more cross/on-shore. In your opinion I probably did the wrong thing and went surfing first and then shot some video footage… but not in mine. Yeah I did manage to shoot around 7 minutes worth a DV and as soon as I get this report and some frame grabs loaded up I’ll start cutting ya’s a couple of new video clips. Now yesterday I got my first kinda obusive email for a long time, on why I don’t get of my arse and get it over to Serangan more often, and I’ll just quickly explain why (even though the last 60 odd photos on baliwaves.com were shot there) Serangan, in my opinion is one of the softer, more last resort type locations on the east Coast. That is unless it’s in the 6-8ft range, and even then there’s better locations on offer. One good thing though, is that it handles the SSW wind better than most other spots. Made has also filed his Lakey Peak (on the island of Sumbawa ) sms surf report and says that wave height still remains in the 1-2ft range, kindy peaky and junky. Light wind providing clean and smooth surfing conditions and there were only 3 surfers in the water at 8.00am. Total number of International surfers in the area remains way below normal at 15. Ok hang in there a bit longer or drop by later on if ya want a look at Keramas (after the wind had turned cross/on-shore). So until then have a good one and I’ll catch ya’s later on !
