**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks, well I was up at the crack of dawn, well before actually. But I was waiting for my mate to pick me up for the highway run up to Medewi , about 2hrs north west from Tuban. So I didn’t get a look at anywhere this morning it was still way to dark. But I did see the Outer Reefs at 3.00pm when I got back to home base and it was dead flat between Kuta Reef and Airports . So I don’t think there woulda been too much happening even down on the southern end of the island, maybe a few waist to shoulder high waves between Uluwatu and Nusa Dua . But on the other hand I was pretty stoked to some 2-3 footers peeling off up at Medewi and not another surfer in sight, except for “fat Baz”. We arrived at Medewi around 6.30AM and surfing conditions were clean and glassy with the slightest hint of off-shore wind on it. The tide was still dropping down for a 10.30’ish Low water line with plenty of little waist to shoulder high plus waves for us. The wind hung off till around 10.00AM when it started to pick up to around 4-6knot coming outta the WSW-SW and on-shore. But it didn’t stop Fat Baz from venturing out for another solo session while Slim hung back for another cup a coffee at the beach side cafe (and got his butt kicked on the chess board by one of the local boys). We did pass through some light rain just outta Tabanan but other than that the temperature was pretty warm. Great water temperature and just perfect in boardies @ 24 degree’s Celcius. Looking at the swell charts and synoptic info today and it’s not looking too good for surfing tomorrow with another possible drop in wave height expected and then a slight increase for Monday and Tuesday. Anyway I’ll check things out for ya’s first thing in the morning and give ya the run down on whats about. On the dollar changing scene out on the streets dept: –1AU$=Rp7,000– 1US$=Rp9,000– and I’m not too sure about the others, as usual the money changers have dropped the rates for the weekend dollar spenders, take note. Just ta finish up with if ya wanna see what the local Quicksilver Indonesia Team Grommet boys have been upto “down under” check out the “stories” section on baliwaves.com.
