**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day crew, thanks for stoppin in for todays run down on the waves an weather here in Bali. Well I was wrong about the Outer Reefs not having any waves when the tide filled in yesterday. Wave height kept building throughout the day and even though the wind was on-shore coming straight outta the South Kuta Reef was lining up nicely for the 3-4 surfers who were out there. This morning I got off to a bit of a late start (thanks to Fat Baz) but I did finally make it down for the surf check @ 8.30am. Wave height has kept coming on and we have 3-5ft+ of swell wrapping onto the Outer Reefs . Unfortunately the wind has been on-shore outta the South since day break @ 5-9knot+ so surfing conditions at just about every location around the island are pretty messed up. There were 4 surfers on Kuta Reef and it was looking very surfable @ 2-4ft even with the Southerly wind. Middle Reef was a bit rough, not handling the on-shore and in the solid 3-5ft+ class. Much smaller down at Airports with 2-3 footers and no surfers in the water. I’d say the best bet for cleaner surfing conditions would be over on the East coast at Serangan , or maybe even at Sanur Reef , if there’s any swell getting in there. Made has filed his report from Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa (via SMS). Made says wave height has also started to show some improvement over there with Lakey Peak breaking in the 2ft+ range this morning. There were 4 bodies in the water @ 8.00AM surfing the “Peak” but the wind was also on-shore coming outta the WSW @ 2-5knot. Total number of International guests has risen to 20 in the entire Lakey Peak area. The next tide here on Bali is going to be a 1.0mtr Low happening @ 11.30AM follow’d by a 2.0mtr High around 5.30PM this afternoon. Not much change on the dollar changing scene today with –1AU$=7,075. –1US$=9,085. Outside weather conditions are not bad at all with lots of blue sky and more warm to hot temperature.
