**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and welcome back to the baliwaves for the afternoon run down on what not’s been happening in the surfing sector of Bali today. Well today we have been cursed with more hurricane like weather conditions around this part of the island and just about all of Indonesia for that matter. I made my first recon of the Outer Reefs of Tuban around 8.30am, had to wait for a break in the rain first. Surfing conditions were totally washed out by the howling WSW’r coming in at 20-25knot but wave height seemed to have increased into the 3-4ft+ range in between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . There was even the odd wave breakin way out in the middle of Legian bay, assisted by the on-shore wind of course. I don’t think there woulda even been any thing ridable over on the east coast with the wind just too strong today. Yesterday the boys staying at Home Base surfed at Serangan and reckoned it was fun @ 2-3ft. Clean and off-shore up until 8.30am before the wind shifted to the SSW turning it cross-shore. But they did say there were at least 90 surfers spread across the 3-4 different peaks. Mind you the wind was no where near as strong yesterday as it is again today. Made’s sms surf report from LAKEY PEAK on the island of Sumbawa was of similar weather conditions and howling on-shore wind outta the WSW. No surfers in the water at Lakey’s and a total of 26 surfers in the whole area of Hu’hu / Lakai. Not much else to say at this stage, we just gotta sit out these current bad conditions and wait for better ones ta come. Just for the record, last night I took 8 friends to my friends “LIVE SEAFOOD” restaurant here in Tuban (The DEWI SRI). We ate a set menue of steamed fish (6) plate apon plate of crumbed prawns, shell fish, seafood soup, plates of fried rice and steamed vegetable’s not too mention about 30 large bottles of Bintang Beer. And the total cost for the 9 of us was AU$125.00 for pure quality seafood and drinks. So make sure you put the DEWI SRI live sea food restaurant located in Tuban, on your “things to do when in Bali” list. back tomorrow with more news on Bali’s surf and weather conditions, catch ya’s then !
