**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning folks and thanks for tuning in for the early. Firstly I’ll bring ya’s up-ta-date on what went down yesterday as there were a few changes in surfing conditions. Well after I finished up on the PC yesterday morning I went back down to the beach (where else can a surfer fully feel at home ?) and wave height on the Outer Reefs was showing back up in the solid 3-5ft+ range. Just after lunch I got my ride to the East side a town and first checked to see if Sanur Reef was doing anything. There were waves breaking but only in the 2-3ft range. Surfing conditions were clean and off-shore but there also looked like a solid contingency of local surfers and groms on it. Next stop was Tanjung Reef , wave height was even smaller there, nothing happening on the right handers but there was the odd small left hander breaking straight out the front @ 1-2 feet. Last stop was at Serangan where wave height was pushing the 3-5ft range on the freak sets and around 50 surfers scattered over 3 sections of both left and right handers. These current images are frame grabs from the 14 minutes of DV I ended up shooting over a 4hr period. 4 hrs of shooting mind ya and I was lucky to cut three 1 minute video clips. So if ya wanna see the best of what was on offer flick through the video section until ya come across; serangan #1-2-3 30jan ’07. Ok back to the present and @ 7.00am when I went down for the surf recon of the Outer Reefs wave height is still way up there in the 3-5ft+ range in between Kuta Reef and Airports . It was looking ugly as all %#[email protected] out there with the wind already strong and gusty coming outta the WSW @ 10-12knot+. There were already an unsuspecting (no idea what so ever) group of 3 Japanese surfers, being coaxed into a boat by a local fishermen. So crew make sure you use yar common sense when your over here ok ! If I was clubbie (thank %#[email protected] I’m not, re: gay mardi gra in Sydney) the surfing and swimming beaches here along the West Coast of Bali would be closed today. The best bet to find some cleaner surfing conditions would be back over on the East Coast at places like Sri-Lanka, Serangan and maybe Sanur Reef would be a tad bigger today. Outside weather conditions are not too bad and we’ll be in for just another warm to hot sunny day here in Bali with the midday temperature pushing the mecury into the early 30’s on the Celcius scale. Made has filed his Lakey Peak sms surf report from the island of Sumbawa and says; at last ! wave height has broken the 3-4ft barrier out on Lakey Peak . But the wind was already on-shore outta the WSW first thing in the morning. There were 10 surfers out there anyway and the total number of International surfers staying in the area remains at 30. Just for the record if ya wanna try the Lakey Peak experience there are all different priced hotels available in the area from budget to top shelf. Ann all of em are located right infront of the main surfing arena, drop us a line for more info.
