**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves ! Just for the record yesterday I did manage to get a look at the waves over on the East coast of Bali but I was un-armed, I mean no camera equipment. Serangan had some niced shaped waves in the 3-5ft range and kinda off/cross-shore, but there was too many surfers in the water to actually get a head count. On the other hand further North at Sanur Reef wave height was breaking in the 2-4ft range and way better in regards to quality and length of ride, with only 7-8 surfers in the water. If anyone out there has surfed at Sanur Reef this year well then you’d probably understand why. This morning I had to wait out the rain before I could get down to beach for a look at surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs namely Kuta Reef / Middle Reef & Airport Left (here in Tuban). There was still around 3 foot of swell but totally disorientated from the strong on-shore W-WSW wind, gusting upta 15knot+. To tell ya’s the absolute truth there has been nothing but strong (cyclonic) onshore wind right along the entire West Coast of Bali for the last 7-8 days straight. But it can’t go on much longer…. can it ! Talking about cyclone’s there has been a T.C. spinning off Australia’s North Western coastline and this baby has been generating the swell that’s been hitting Bali’s East Coast. I’m gunna try (ain’t I always ?) and get some video shot today, if only I can get a clear patch of rain free weather so as I don’t drown my camera gear. Currently now at 10.00am the sky has cleared up and it’s hot and humid outside, the wind is still coming outta the WSW @ 8-12knot and the tide is approaching the top of what should be a solid High water line. Made’s sms surf report from LAKEY PEAK on the island of Sumbawa reads; 12 surfers in the water on Lakey Peak @ 9.00am with wave height in the 2-3ft range (head high) on a period of 10 seconds. Wind direction was coming outta the WSW and on-shore @ 3-6knot. The total number of International surfers staying in the area remains very low @ 24. Here in Bali the Internet service is still not the best with repairs still being done on the severed Optic Fibre cable that provides this area of the World with the “Net”. We can get on-line but ya sure do have to be patient about it (Slim included !). Ok then now ya can get back ta work and get a bit done, like I said, I’m gunna be doing my best to get some new footage for ya’s in another hour or 3’s time. Take care and get ready for your 2007 Bali Holiday !!!
