**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning friends of Bali and thanks for dropping into your Bali surf and weather info station for another week of action. More beautiful weather outside again here in Tuban (Southern end of Kuta) and a another great beach day coming on for the smart buggers already over here on the island of the Gods . I was down checking the wave scene @ 6.45am and wave height has taken a temporary nose dive. Wave height on the Outer Reefs was showing in the 1-2ft+ range in between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was still in the mid range mode but on it’s way out for a 0.9mtr Low set for around 10.00am. Then she’ll be peaking @ 2.0mtrs around 4.00-5.00pm for the High water line. There wasn’t anything tempting on Kuta Reef , only just breaking in the 1ft or knee high range. Middle Reef was faring slightly better @ 1-2ft and surfable. But today Airport Left was picking up the better size and more consistent outtta the big 3 on the Outer Reefs. There were 2-3 surfers out there catchen waves upta head high or 3ft on the surfers scale. Wind direction was coming clean off-shore straight outta the East @ 1-2knot. Uluwatu woulda been the place again today for the best waves on Bali. Canggu should also have a few waist to shoulder high waves up there this morning and you’ll always find a beach break or three up along the Kuta / Legian strip . I’ve just had an sms surf up-date come in from Canadian surfer Chris Mace. Chris is just on his way back to home base after surfing Keramas , he reckoned it was only just worth the effort with wave height only just pushing the waist to shoulder high range, but still clean and glassy through the early AM. Made has also filed his sms surf report from over at Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa and says; wave height is still hanging in there at waist to shoulder high out on Lakey Peak with 12 surfers in the water at 7.15am and 2 more riders sitting on the Lakey Pipe section. The total number of International surfers hasn’t changed since yesterday @ 40. Just to let ya’s know a little about the Lakey area dept: For starters the poor old hotel owner’s over there don’t have one website on-line between them. There are only booking agents who own the actual sites for the lakey area. There are something like 6-8 hotels available in the area with price’s starting at AU$7.00 up to AU$25.00 per night for a single room. Flights are easily booked from here in Bali flying with Merpati airlines and they except surfboards of all shapes and sizes at no extra cost. Once you hit Bima airport on Sumbawa you then need transport for the 2hr drive to Lakey’s. If you want more info you can check out the Lakey Peak info page right here on the baliwaves menu link, or simple drop us an email. We can help get anyone across to Lakey’s at cost price, why ? because I’ve got a lot of good friends (locals) over there and I like to see them working. For that they need you over there ! Alrighty then that’s about me for this morning, typing wise anyway… Next up I’m gunna start slicing up yesterdays 20 minutes of digital video footage (3CCD) and I reckon there’s at least gunna be 6-7 new video clips coming your way by this afternoon. Make sure ya check em out ok ! If ya wanna see what the local Quicksilver Indonesia Team Grommet boys have been upto “down under” check out the “stories” section on baliwaves.com. If your interested in renting a private bungalow in the Kuta area this year check out the baliwaves “buisiness directory” Or if ya just want some general Bali surfing info or say G’day to Slim then drop us an email ! For now have a good one out there and stay happy what eva ya do, see ya’s over here at Home Base Bali real soon ! Ann I better say a Special Hello to all my old mate Peter McCabe !!
