**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning folks and thanks for droppin in for another run down on Bali’s surfng and weather conditions for today. It’s been a shocker of a morning so far from the moment I jumped on the bike to go check the Outer Reefs @ 6.30am. That’s exactly the time it started to rain. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports has dropped right away and only just occassionally showing the odd one footer. Not too mention that the wind was already fresh on-shore coming outta the West @ 3-7knot, so things arn’t looking the best. The tide was almost at the bottom of a 0.3mtr Low and is going to be running back in for a solid 2.4mtr High between 1.00-2.00pm. And when the High tide fills it in I’d say we’ll be hard pressed to find anywhere breaking, except maybe the odd 1 foot beach break up along the Kuta / Legian strip of beach breaks. Looking at the swell prediction charts and they are indicating a new swell in transit to Bali, arriving on maybe Sunday into Monday. Sorry about the break down in surf reports coming outta the lakey Peak area of Indonesia but our man Made has just got out of the local hospital following symptems of the dreaded Malaria. Made says that wave height has also all but faded out at Lakey’s and this morning is down in the 1ft range. No wind so surfing conditions are clean and glassy for the 4 surfers that were in the water at 8.00am. Total number of International surfers in that part of Indo is still hanging in there at 40. So beware if you are planning on visiting other islands through out Indo, consult your local GP before ya head off. just like to let ya’s know a little bit about the Lakey area. For starters the poor old hotel owner’s over there don’t have one website on-line between them. There are only booking agents who own the actual sites for the lakey area. There are something like 6-8 hotels available in the area with price’s starting at AU$7.00 up to AU$25.00 per night for a single room. Flights are easily booked from here in Bali flying with Merpati airlines and they except surfboards of all shapes and sizes at no extra cost. Once you hit Bima airport on Sumbawa you then need transport for the 2hr drive to Lakey’s. If you want more info you can check out the Lakey Peak info page right here on the baliwaves menu link, or simple drop us an email. We can help get anyone across to Lakey’s at cost price, why ? because I’ve got a lot of good friends (locals) over there and I like to see them working. For that they need you over there !
Another tip for anyone buying a plane ticket to Bali this year is beware of “cheap tickets” I’ve had a lot of email from surfers opting for the cheaper “Jet Star” tickets in Australia only to find out at the airport that they won’t except any surfboards over 2.0 metres in length. Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta –1AU$=Rp7,075 –1US$-Rp9,020. If your interested in renting a private bungalow in the Kuta area this year check out the baliwaves “buisiness directory” Or if ya just want some general Bali surfing info or say G’day to Slim then drop us an email ! Have a good one out there and stay happy what eva ya do, see ya’s over here at Home Base Bali real soon !

You can also ask me about the ever popular Lombok and Sumbawa 7 day 3 island boat charter and I’ll give you the run down on reliable operators, and what price the actual owners charge ! Likewise if your looking for a cheap, clean and 100% surfer friendly place to home base (A/C, Hot ‘n Cold water, TV, fridge @ AU$20.00 a night per single room and AU$30.00 per twin share room, DISCOUNTS FOR ANYONE STAYING LONGER THAN 7 DAYS.) here in Bali, and only a 3 minute walk down to the beach and Outer Reefs here in friendly Tuban or if your looking for something more budget wise we have 1 room available for AU$10.00 per night (double bed + fan cooled + cold water shower).
