**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hey Good morning crew and thanks for droppin in for some more baliwaves surf and weather info again today. Well I hope ya’s have already been looking at the new video clips I loaded up yesterday cause there’s a big chance I’ll be loading more up later this arvo, if not hook in and check em out. Ok, this morning when I went down for the optical on surfing conditions on the Outer reefs here in Tuban @ 6.00am there was still waves hitting the reef in the 2-3ft+ range. The wind was coming outta the NNW @ 4-6knot kinda on/cross-shore between Kuta Reef and further down to Airport left . The tide was just getting towards the bottom of a dryish Low tide otherwise it woulda been quite surfable out at Kuta Reef for some 2-3 footers (head high). Middle Reef being the Low tide option out there was surfable at 2-3ft+ but there wasn’t any surfers in sight at that time of the day. Canggu woulda been the best bet here along the West Coast and woulda been all but off-shore with the NNW wind, in the head to head high plus range. But alas the wind will shift further around to the West and possibly even further around to the SW by mid morning so surfing conditions will be better suited for the East Coast of Bali then. I’m going to head over there myself a bit later on so drop by later if ya wanna know whats going on. 3 of the crew from Home Base Bali have opted to head further up the East coast to surf at Keramas (@ 5.30am) and we’ll have the run down on surfing conditions from them when they get back. Made has filed yet another sms surf report from over at Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa and says; wave height has dropped back into the waist to shoulder high range for this mornings session but there were still 8 surfers out on the perfect little left and right handers. The total number of International surfers staying in the area has dropped back to 36, but the Girvan lads (James and Michael) are in transit to there as I type so make it 38. The lads are also going to try and send us some daily photos from Lakey’s if they can get internet access. Just to let ya’s know a little about the Lakey area dept: For starters the poor old hotel owner’s over there don’t have one website on-line between them. There are only booking agents who own the actual sites for the lakey area. There are something like 6-8 hotels available in the area with price’s starting at AU$7.00 up to AU$25.00 per night for a single room. Flights are easily booked from here in Bali flying with Merpati airlines and they except surfboards of all shapes and sizes at no extra cost. Once you hit Bima airport on Sumbawa you then need transport for the 2hr drive to Lakey’s. If you want more info you can check out the Lakey Peak info page right here on the baliwaves menu link, or simple drop us an email. We can help get anyone across to Lakey’s at cost price, why ? because I’ve got a lot of good friends (locals) over there and I like to see them working. For that they need you over there ! Weather wise around Bali today we had a much cooler start and lots of heavy cloud fluffing about. No rain fell through the night and I reckon come midday the sun will be busting back out for a warm to hot afternoon. Another noticible thing this morning was that there wer’nt no smell of dead fish in the air, so it looks like the Kuta council has been working hard and cleaned up all the dead fish from the shore-line. If ya wanna see what the local Quicksilver Indonesia Team Grommet boys have been upto “down under” check out the “stories” section on baliwaves.com. If your interested in renting a private bungalow in the Kuta area this year check out the baliwaves “buisiness directory” Or if ya just want some general Bali surfing info or say G’day to Slim then drop us an email ! For now have a good one out there and stay happy what eva ya do, see ya’s over here at Home Base Bali real soon ! Ann I better say a Special Hello to all my friends all over the World !!
