**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and Bali holidayers alike, and most of all a big thank you for dropping in for another round of Bali surf ‘n weather info. This morning we got off to wet start around the Tuban / Kuta area with the rain starting last night and continuing through the early AM. I finally made it down for a look at the ocean @ 6.30am (without getting to wet). Wave height is still holdin in the 2-4ft range on the Outer Reefs in between Kuta Reef and Airports but the wind was already strong and gusty coming outta the WSW @ 5-10knot. So unless she backs off through the later part of the day there ain’t gunna be too many waves surfed here along the West Coast . Actually I did get a report in from one of the local surfers from Uluwatu last night and he reckoned Ulu was pretty good yesterday morning in the 2-4ft range. So for the wave hungry crew today you’d be putting gas in the car and heading over to the East Coast , which by the way is only a 20 minute drive from here in Tuban. With the wind already influenced by the South you’d be looking at locations like Sri-Lanka and Serangan as your best bet for cleaner surfing conditions. Made and James have already filed their Lakey Peak sms surf reports from the island of Sumbawa and the boys say; that wave height on Lakey Peak is in the 2-3 feet range and the wind is all but off-shore over there coming lightly outta the East. There were 5 surfers out for the early paddle on Lakey Peak , the total number of International surfers visiting Lakey’s has jumped to 48. James has also mentioned he’ll be sending me some photos from lakey’s later this afternoon. Just to let ya’s know a little about the Lakey area dept: For starters the poor old hotel owner’s over there don’t have one website on-line between them. There are only booking agents who own the actual sites for the lakey area. There are something like 6-8 hotels available in the area with price’s starting at AU$7.00 up to AU$25.00 per night for a single room. Flights are easily booked from here in Bali flying with Merpati airlines and they except surfboards of all shapes and sizes at no extra cost. Once you hit Bima airport on Sumbawa you then need transport for the 2hr drive to Lakey’s. If you want more info you can check out the Lakey Peak info page right here on the baliwaves menu link, or simple drop us an email. We can help get anyone across to Lakey’s at cost price, why ? because I’ve got a lot of good friends (locals) over there and I like to see them working. For that they need you over there ! So that’ll give me something to show ya’s all tomorrow. I’ve also been up all night cutting you 3 NEW VIDEO clips from Keramas (Keramas#1-2-3 9thFeb ’07). Not too mention I’ve gone and loaded up some pretty good (if I do say so myself) bodyboarding photos on the BB page. Thens there’s the 100 odd images of gone and loaded into the Surfing Gallery for the month of Feb ’07. What else do ya’s want ? Weather wise, like I mentioned up the top we had plenty of rain through the night and it has continued through into today, right now @ 9.15am it has stopped but we still have a cloudy and grey looking sky over us. Even though the outside temperature will reach the late 20’s by midday. If ya wanna see what the local Quicksilver Indonesia Team Grommet boys have been upto “down under” check out the “stories” section on baliwaves.com. If your interested in renting a private bungalow in the Kuta area this year check out the baliwaves “buisiness directory” Or if ya just want some general Bali surfing info or say G’day to Slim then drop us an email !
