**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all the surfers in the southern Hemisphere, and good evening to ya’s in the Northern ! Firstly, after talking with my friend KL last night over a few cold Bintang beers, he said he hung around down at Uluwatu yesterday afternoon for the glass off session on the Racetrack and reckoned it was cranking. Well it’s just gone 8.00am here in Bali and I’ve just got back from sussing out surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs . There seems to be a bit of a longer wait this morning between the set waves but when they did come through were breaking in the 2-3ft class on Kuta Reef and Center Reef . While Middle Reef and Airport Left were slightly smaller in the 1-2ft range. There wasn’t any surfers in the water at the time but just as I was heading back home I did see one boat load heading out towards Airport Left. Wind direction was good coming outta the ENE @ 2-4knot and off-shore here along Bali’s West Coast . The tide has still got a little bit more to fill in yet with the High water set for 1.9mtrs at 9.00am and then we’ll see a 0.8 mtr Low happening through mid to late afternoon. So with that information I could imagine that there should also be a few 2-3 footers happening down at Balangan and of course Uluwatu would be the best bet for a barrel or three in the 2-4ft+ range. Not to mention that the morning High tide would have all the beach breaks working along the Kuta to Legian strip. Weather wise this morning it’s faultless, nothing but blue sky and light off-shore wind. And from here on in that’s about all we should be seeing until sometime next December. There’s something I also forget to mention in yesterdays report, and that was that you can also read Pierre’s daily surf report on the READERS REPORT page of baliwaves. Pierre live’s here in Bali and frequently surfs up at Canggu , not too mention a heap of other locations all over Bali. So now ya’s get even more on the daily Baliwaves surf check. Just while I’m in a talkative mood, (before I start loading up yesterdays VIDEO action from Uluwatu) When I was in Australia Troy “the mechanic” of baliwaves.com showed me something that blew me away, and made me feel all kinda proud of just what the two of us have achieved with baliwaves. Apparantly he has a program that register’s where a website is ranked on the whole fricken internet as we know it and baliwaves.com ranked in at No.136,385. This program doesn’t register any website that’s not in the top 5,000,000. Just outta curiosity…. I checked out a few other Bali websites and they didn’t register any ranking. That’s it from me here in Bali but Made has sms’d through his Lakey Peak surf report from the island of Sumbawa and says; Wave height has dropped off a touch this morning but there were still plenty of 2-4 footers for the 10 surfers in the water on lakey Peak . While there were another 8 riders slotting into the 2-3 footers across on Lakey Pipe . Clean and glassy conditions and not a cloud in the sky for the 45 visiting surfers staying in the area. Ray who is the Kandui Surf Resort resident surf guide has also posted another up-date straight outta the Mentawai islands for us and here it is. Winds were light this morning out of the north and our swell was just about the same size as yesterday. The boat left without me today because our computer guy is here and I am helping him make the place even sicker that it already is. We were installing stereos in every uma today so you can use your i pod in your room when you get here. We also put in wireless in every uma, telephones for your dawn patrol wake up call, and we just got done hooking up the 4 Bobs cam so you can check out the conditions over here any time you want. When I find out how you can access it, I’ll let you know. Anyway, most our crew ended up out at Nips where waves were only shoulder high or so. Conditions were good so they had a good time, but didn’t stay long. A couple of guys went up to Last Re sort’s where it was about the same size as Nipusi and conditions were good there too. It was fun and Dave even got a good barrel. Everyone came back fairly early and did some walking on the hill and snorkel diving. Happy hour was going off in the afternoon! Looking for some bigger surf tomorrow. You can email Ray direct for more info on Kandui and the waves on, [email protected]
