**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy crew and thanks for waiting around for me to get back from the Uluwatu mission. Anyway I took my first look at the Outer Reefs here in Tuban around 6.30am and there were good waves breaking on all 3 main sections upta 4ft+. The tide was still running out for a mid range 0.9 Low @ 8.00am. Middle Reef was cranking at 3-4ft+ while Kuta Reef and Airport Left would have been good for some perfect little left handers as the tide started to make it’s way back in. Wind direction has been blowing clean off-shore along Bali ’s West Coast in the 10-14knot range. But as ya’s can see in these FRAME GRABS I’ve loaded up I was on location at Bali ’s famous Uluwatu. I arrived at 8.30am to find around 20 surfers sitting on the Racetrack section but there’s wasn’t much action happening in the water for shooting video. But as the tide started to creep in I was happy to see Ketut Pitur (Uluwatu Lifegard) and Uluwatu local Made Lana paddle out to the Main Peak . With the incoming tide it wasn’t long before there were 6 footers hitting the Peak and likewise there were some beauties coming through way down in front of the
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Made’s sms surf report came through at 7.00am and the crew over at Lakeys were smiling with the swell increasing into the 2-4ft+ range on Lakey Peak this morning. There were 15 surfers on the Peak at the time but still no takers for Lakey Pipe. Perfect surfing conditions with no wind, just clean and glassy perfect left and rights peeling off on Lakey Peak . The total number of visiting surfers staying in the area is sitting on 40.
Kandui Surfing Resort / Mentawai islands 8th April ’07 ; It was pretty much looking like a Burgerworld day as it got light enough to see 4 Bobs this morning. Pretty small out there. The first boat headed straight there. Conditions were good with a light northwest wind blowing and the waves were a couple of feet overhead. It was a little disorganized, but no one was out and we it was looking fun. We surfed for a few hours, then our second boat showed up. They had just surfed Beng Beng by themselves. Waves there were fun, but inconsistent so they
came to see what Burgerworld was looking like. We let them take over and went back for some lunch. They said the waves got a little better after we left, and they didn’t show back up to the resort until late in the afternoon, as usual! We mostly kicked back in the afternoon, saving our energy for the upcoming swell. A couple of our guys went out to 4 Bobs which was had too good of conditions to pass up with the moderate northwest winds. They got a couple of chest high waves out there. We are looking for increasing swell tomorrow.
