MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and welcome back to the first and foremost baliwaves.com for another up-date on Bali ’s surf and weather conditions for today. Well yesterday the waves were cranking all day long out on Kuta Reef I wasn’t lucky enough to get out there but I did hear from quite a few other surfers just how good it was. It was that good that at one stage there were at least 50 surfers in the line-up on the higher (safer) end of the tide. The wind stayed outta ESE and getting upta Tradewind strength by midday. Right now at 8.00am I’ve just got back to base after the 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs . Wave height has dropped off a foot or two this morning but there’s still plenty of waves ranging in the 2-4ft+ class between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running in for a solid High, today we have the New Moon so we’ll be seeing a lotta difference between the High and Low water line over the next few days. There were already something like 20+ surfers on Kuta Reef catching waves in the 2-4ft class that were peeling off for a good 100yrds. Middle Reef was still drawing in waves upta 5ft or double head high, but I didn’t see anyone out there just yet . Airport Left was breaking at 2-3ft+ and highly populated with the Japanese contingency as usual. There’d also be some long walled waves breaking further down south at Balangan and of course Uluwatu would have to be in the 4-6ft range today. The wind was off-shore coming outta the ESE @ 1-3knot and should increase in strength through out the day. Weather wise it’s all looking good out there for the beach lovers, blue sky and heading for a top temperature in the low 30’s C. Ok crew I’ve gotta ask you all to bear with me for a bit longer as I’m having some serious technician troubles with baliwaves.com. For starters copy my email address: [email protected] hopefully I’ll get this issue sorted out today… Ok friends have a good one and we’ll be back soon with more information from your favorite friendly little holiday island called Bali .
Kandui Surf Resort / Mentawai islands 16th April ’07 ; Swell was looking quite a bit smaller this morning. Winds were light out of the southeast. The swell was getting more south. 4 Bobs, which is biggest on a south, still had some good sets, but as we checked out Hideaways, which needs some west, it was looking half the size that it was yesterday. So we moved on to Beng Beng. The winds had picked up and turned northeast, so Beng Beng was looking fun and offshore and there were still some head high sets with the occasional plus. The winds switched north and ended up blowing it out, but not before everyone got some fun waves. After lunch, about half the crew went out to 4 Bobs and the other half went to Nipusi. The winds were still north, which is good for Nipusi and sideshore for 4 Bobs, but the winds got lighter and lighter through the afternoon so both places ended up having good conditions. 4 Bobs was head high or so and Nipusi had some sets that were going 2 or 3 feet overhead. It was a good session for the boys at both spots. I took the short ride to Bankvaults where it was about the same size as Nipusi and great conditions, but hard to find a good shoulder. I did find a couple and got the tube I was looking for on my last wave so it was worth the effort. Not a bad day for everybody. ps. Spectacular sunset today. Top 10. Expecting smaller surf tomorrow.
