AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hi folks and thanks for waiting around for the latest surf and weather info from here in Bali ! I made my first surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban at 7.00am this morning to find wave height had dropped back into the 2-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Surfing conditions were basically clean and smooth with the wind blowing light on-shore outta the WNW @ 1-3knot. The tide was starting to run in and there were a handful of surfers out riding on all of the big 3 . Middle Reef was doing the best swell wise pulling in all the bigger 3 footers. I then gassed up the motor bike, loaded up the Video Camera and made the 45 minute ride down south to Uluwatu . By the time I got there the tide had really started to push in hard making the 3-4ft+ waves a bit fat and wonky but there were still plenty of nice shaped waves hitting the Main Peak . Sometime around 10.00am the wind shifted to the SSE making it more cross/off-shore down at Ulu . As the tide started to run back out after lunch the wave height started to increase into the 5ft range out on the Main Peak and Temple sections. But the Racetrack was the place to be surfing, slightly smaller in the 3-4ft range but super clean protected by the cliffs. Unfortunately I ran outta battery power around 3.00pm just as the Track was really starting to barrel and I reckon right now at 5.45pm it’d be cranking. Not to worry, cause there should still be some action happening down at Uluwatu again tomorrow. The crowd woulda been up there around 60 surfers spread through from the Main Peak and down through the Racetrack. Coming home I stopped on the bridge over Padang Padang and watched some 2-3ft+ lines peeling down the reef at Impossible’s and there were a few riders getting into them. Weather wise it’s been another beauty for everyone here on holidays, blue sky and around 32 degree’s outta the shade. Ok that’s about it for now, these images are frame grabs from the Digital Video I was shooting and I’ll load the actual Video Clips up for ya’s as soon as I get them edited. I might even head back down there again tomorrow if we’ve still got some swell left. So make sure ya find the time to drop into the baliwaves again then. I also gotta say sorry about my little anxiety attack yesterday in regards to technical problems, everything is a ok . In fact it’s better than that, as we’ll soon have a whole shit load of web cams along with surf reports from all over the globe on the baliwaves.com See ya’s tomorrow crew ! Just before I click out I better let the people waiting for me to answer there emails to hang in there and I’ll get back to you real soon.
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Made sms’d through his surf report from Lakey’s around 8.00am this morning and said that wave height had backed off a touch but still breaking in the 2-3ft+ range out the front on Lakey Peak. There were 15 surfers in the water at the time, no one surfing the Lakey Pipe. Surfing conditions were clean and smooth with no wind, he also mentioned that weather wise it was clear and sunny. The total number of visiting surfers in the Lakey area remains at 60.
