AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and thanks for hanging around for the full run down on what actually went down surf wise here in beautiful Bali . Ok so I made the decision to run for Uluwatu and made it down there (via motor bike) around 11.30am just as the tide was getting up to the top. Even though there were 3-4 footers breaking on all 3 main sections, from Temple’s all the way down to the Racetrack . Surfing conditions were perfect with the wind coming cleanly off-shore outta the ESE-SE @ 5-9knot . And as I expected wave height was still building, before long it was pushing 5ft on the Main Peak and Temple sections. There was certainly no shortage of tube riding today by both stand-ups and the body boarding fraternity. There’s also some new photos on the BB page for those interested. I reckon by tomorrow we should see just about every location (except Padang Padang ..) on Bali ’s West Coast going off. I’ll let ya’s know the score on tomorrow mornings surf report. Have a good one and get those tickets to Bali locked in pronto !
MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all you reef riders tuning into the baliwaves today. Well I’ve just got back from doing the daily surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban and I’m pretty happy to say that wave height has indeed started to improve in size. Nothing super special just yet but hopefully it’ll continue to build through out the day. Kuta Reef was almost surfable at 1-2ft+ but no one out there at 6.45am. Slightly bigger again towards Middle Reef and Airport Left was breaking at 1-2ft+ and I‘d imagine there will be a few takers out there by mid morning. The tide hit the top of a 1.5mtr low range High at 6.00am and is only gunna be running back down for a 1.3mtr Low around lunch time. The small tide range between the high and low is because we’re in the middle of the moon phase. As soon as I get this stuff on line for ya’s I’ll be going back down for another surf recon, and if there’s reasonable cause I’ll be grabbing the Video equipment and heading south for Uluwatu . So we’ll keep this short and tidy for now. The wind is coming lightly outta the NE, slight cross-shore along Bali ’s West Coast but should swing around the ESE and more true off-shore by mid morning. Weather wise, well you could say it’s more than safe to hang out the washing, heading for a top temperature around 32 degree’s Celsius outta the shade. Alright I’m outta here, drop back this evening for some new images and hopefully some more Video clips from Uluwatu .
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Made has sent his surf report to us via sms and says that wave height has backed down to 1-2ft on Lakey Peak this morning. But surfing conditions were clean and smooth with no wind present at 7.00am. There were still 15 surfers in the water on The Peak and another 5 riders across the channel on Lakey Pipe. No new arrivals in the area and no departures so the total number of visiting surfers remains at 65.
