**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and it’s time for me to fill ya’s in on what’s been happening around the happy little holiday island of Bali today. Well as usual I went down for the 6.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs , just down the road from home in Tuban. As I was hoping for, wave height had indeed crept up a little in size and was showing at 1-3ft between Kuta Reef and Airport left . The tide was still pretty low at the time suiting Middle Reef which had the odd shoulder to head high set wave, but zero surfers in the water. Not much happening on Kuta Reef or Airport Left but I’d say Airports woulda had a few aroound mid morning as the tide started to run back in for the midday high. First thing this morning there was only the slightest of on-shore Westerly blowing and surfing conditions were still nice and clean. So I thought I’d better get down to Uluwatu for a certainty to see some bigger swell. I arrived around 9.00am to find around 20 surfers riding the Main Peak section at 2-4ft+ although the wind had increased in strength and shifted further around to the South surfing conditions were still clean enough, as ya’s can see in these current photos I shot. Uluwatu local “Gobleg” was the stand out surfer today and was in the water from the time I arrived up until the time I packed up the 600mm at 1.00pm. As the tide filled in Temple’s was also producing some long walled waves for the 2 lone surfers who made the paddle down there. Nothing breaking at Padang Padang and the top end of Imossible’s Reef had some 2 footers peeling down the line towards Bingin. Weather wise the first half of today was great with nothing but blue sky, but shortly after I made it back home to Tuban the sky had turned black and it started to rain cats and dogs. Just now at 3.30pm has the rain stopped but it’s still looking like there’s more to come for tonight. Ok then that just about wraps us up for this session but call in again tomorrow morning for the more of the latest surf and weather info straight outta Bali. Better still get those friends organised and get yourselves over here and be part of it. Here’s another tip if your coming over in regards to airlines from Australia. Don’t be fooled by airlines offering cheap fares and then getting told at the airport when your checking in that your surfboards can’t come or that ya gotta pay some big bucks to get em to Bali. My favourite airline to Bali is Garuda, great service and no drama’s with your surfboards ! Catch ya’s later.
Over on the island of Sumbawa the boys have been scoring some perfection today according to Made who works at the Aman Gati Hotel. Made says wave height has also jumped into the 2-4ft+ range on Lakey Peak . Surfing conditions were clean and glassy over at lakey’s with no wind at all to bother the boys. At the time of Made’s sms surf report there were 15 surfers in the water on the Peak and another 3 surfers riding the more hollow section of Lakey Pipe . With the total number of visiting surfers remaining in the 45 mark.
