**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hi crew and thanks for dropping by for the run down of todays surf and weather conditions here in Bali. Well I tell ya’s it’s been one of those weeks and the scary thing is it ain’t over yet. Monday it was off to the dentist and yesterday just as I bent over to put some fins in my board to go for a surf my back had a bit of a seizure of some sort, I just can’t wait to get old……. So if you’ve had a bad week too I hope that makes ya feel a bit better. Anyway my first surf check was at 8.30am this morning and at the time there was still a few ok waves breaking on the Outer Reefs with Airport Left looking the best @ 2-2ft+ or up to head high on the freak sets. But there was already something like 15-20 surfers in the line-up. I also bumped into Surfer Magazine’s “Surf Doctor” while I was out and about and he said that he was surfing at Middle Reef through the morning. He said the waves wern’t anything special (he’s been here before) but at least it was breaking in the shoulder to head high range and he had it all to himself. Kuta Reef was breaking but pretty small in the 1-2ft range but even though there were a couple of surfers out there making the most of it. The wind has been cranking outta the ESE since yesterday and off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu along Bali’s West Coast. But when I went down for another look just before lunch time the High Tide had filled in and there wern’t many waves at all breaking on any of the big 3. Uluwatu down on the Southern end of the island would be the best chance for a late arvo session for some head high waves. Weather wise all the components are in place with the return of the Tradewind, there’s nothing but blue sky and sunshine outside for the beach crew. Right now @ 2.15pm the temperature would have to be over 30 degree’s Celcius outta the shade while the water temp couldn’t be any more perfect @ 24C. Listen crew I need a bit of a hand, I only ask when I need to and right now I need your help. I know ya’s all like the video clips I’ve been loading up on baliwaves.com. Well the old Sony has just about packed it in and I now have a once in a lifetime offer to score a Cannon XL2 Video Camera from a professional friend. I’m exactly AU$800.00 short of the mark and have got until Saturday to find it or someone else is on stand by to buy it. Now this camera is around 7 grand to buy new and will get us much closer to the action making the video clips so much better in quality, for your pleasure. So please folks if you can spare a few bucks for the baliwaves cause please, thanks crew. Drop me a line and I’ll tell you how to get it to us. I’ve already gotta a give a BIG THANKS to Andrew Sargent and John P. M. for already helping baliwaves.com. The needed funds has now dropped to AU$525.00 !!!
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Made filed his sms surf report from lakey’s at 7.00am and says that wave height has also dropped a bit more and now down in the waist to head high range. There were 10 surfers already out playing on Lakey Peak in clean and glassy conditions. No one out on lakey Pipe at the time due to the early Low Tide. lakey Peak and Lakey Pipe are the two breaks that are located right infront of the hotel lined strip of beach. He also mentioned that there’s still around 50 visiting international surfers in the area.
Still no news from Ray up in the Mentawai islands Kandui Surf Resort, so he still might be getting the bugs out of there new wireless internet system the’ve just installed at the Resort.
