**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Welcome back to the baliwaves this fine looking Saturday ! Another beautiful morning is unfolding outside over here in Bali. I’ve just got back from the 6.30am surf recon of the wave situation on the Outer Reefs and there are still some waves happening. The wind was coming lightly outta the East @ 1-2knot and off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu, and I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that it’ll slowly increase in strength through out the morning. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports was ranging between 1-3ft but only at Middle Reef was there anything worth riding. The tide was just about on the bottom of the Low and Middle Reef had head high sets peeling off for 50yrds+. Still too shallow for Kuta Reef breaking @ 1 foot and Airports @ 1-2 feet, but there might be the odd waist to shoulder high wave on Airports as the tide starts to run back in. Uluwatu would be the best option for a wave today and I’d imagine there’d be a few head to head high plus waves running down through the Racetrack section right now (@ 7.45am). But sorry crew my back isn’t up to the motor bike ride just yet so I’ll have to sit it out again… Weather wise it’s gunna be starting to get very repititious for the next 6-7 months with only blue sky and warm to hot beach type temperatures to tell ya’s about. And that’s about what we have for today. Looking at the swell forecast for Indonesia and I thinks wave height will be getting smaller over today and tomorrow but hopefully starting Monday or Tuestday we should see a new swell on the Reefs. If anyone is wondering what the dollar exchange rate is doing at the moment you’ll find that 1 Aussie dollar will get you 7,350. Rupiah and 1 American dollar gets you 9,050 Rupiah. Listen crew I still need a bit of a hand, I only ask when I need to and right now I need your help. I know ya’s all like the video clips I’ve been loading up on baliwaves.com. Well the old Sony has just about packed it in and I now have a once in a lifetime offer to score a Cannon XL2 Video Camera from a professional friend. I’m exactly AU$800.00 short of the mark and have got until Saturday to find it or someone else is on stand by to buy it. Now this camera is around 7 grand to buy new and will get us much closer to the action making the video clips so much better in quality, for your pleasure. So please folks if you can spare a few bucks for the baliwaves cause please, thanks crew. Drop me a line and I’ll tell you how to get it to us. I’ve already gotta a give a BIG THANKS to the Crew who have already helped out the baliwaves.com cause. The needed funds has now dropped to AU$220.00 !!! Ok then crew If anything out of the ordinary happens through out the day I’ll get back to ya’s with an afternoon up-date.
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Made’s sms surf report says that at 7.00am wave height was breaking in the 1-2ft+ range out on Lakey Peak and that there were 7 surfers in the water making the most of the clean and glassy conditions. No one surfing over on Lakey Pipe due to the tide still being to Low at the time. Made also mention’d that there were 5 departures from lakey’s yesterday dropping the total number if visiting surfers in the area to around 45.
