AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day Crew and thanks for dropping in to see what’s happening surf and weather wise here in Bali . Well it’s been a top day, well for me and the crew from Home Base anyway. I didn’t even get a chance to check surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs this morning as we were on the road to Medewi before sun rise at 5.30am. It took us a good hour and forty five minutes driving time to get there from here in Tuban. On arrival there were only 4 surfers in the water and surfing conditions were clean and off-shore from the light Northerly wind. First up wave height was only in the shoulder to head high range but after an hour or so the sets were soon pushing head high plus and pretty well coming through non stop. At one stage there woulda been around 15 surfers scattered along the 200yrd long wave , but for our second session we basically had it all to ourselves. Talking with the very friendly local surfers up there they were saying that the right hander just down the beach was also pumping and I’d also have to assume that Balian just down the road woulda also had plenty of waves. I reckon I myself caught at least 30 x 200yrd long left handers today and my arms are sure feeling the 6 kilometers worth of paddling. Weather wise the wind stayed nice and light off-shore outta the North up until midday before she slowly swung to the ESE getting up to 3-6knot at best. It’s been hot and suny along the coast and a great day to have off. We’ve also got the New Moon rising tonight. No photos to show ya’s I’m sorry, but I’ve got plenty running through my mind from the days surfing. I’m gunna start loading the Video Clips I shot at Uluwatu yesterday to help fill in some gaps for ya’s instead. And look, I’m doing my best to provide all the content on baliwaves.com for ya’s and basically it’s all free. So sometimes I get a bit pissed off with the odd freak who emails me with a complaint about this or that. Yesterday some legend contacted me about the quality of the frame grabs I snatched from the video I was shooting. There’s one in every crowd, sooner or later…. Opinions are just like arseholes, (pardon me) and everyone has got one. But they are better kept to yourself I reckon. Ok folks thanks and I’ll be doing the rounds for ya’s tomorrow morning so feel free to drop by anytime. Hey and don’t forget when ya day is done and ya wanna kick back for a few cold one’s make sure ya call into the “The Dewi Sri” live seafood restaurant here in Jalan Kartika Plaza, Tuban (the seafood at Jimburan Bay is not even in the picture). Anyway the boss Mr Nyoman Korna wants all you lot to know that between the hours of 3pm till 7pm, 7 days a week for the next month, he’s going to be offering ya’s ICY COLD BEER at way below Happy Hour prices. A large Bintang Beer will cost Rp12,000 (AU$1.70) and a small bottle of Bintang goes for just Rp7,000 (AU$0.90). So if you’ve got a thirst for ICE COLD BEER make sure ya drop by and say G’Day to Nyoman and his friendly staff at the “Dewi Sri”
