MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and thanks for calling in for the daily run down on surf and weather conditions here in Bali . Well first up I gotta say there were some nice little waves had out on Kuta Reef yesterday. The sets were coming through in the head to a few feet over head class (3-4ft) and pretty well non stop. Devis Ratif from Quicksilver Indonesia was out there with me and no one coulda got further inside than what he was and still make it out. The tide was still pretty low and there were a few casualty’s from hitting the reef. But when ya got a good one they just kept peeling off for a good 100yrds+ . This morning the 24th when I went down for the 7.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs I was almost relieved to see that wave height has faded out and down in the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was still running out for a 1.0mtr Low set for 9.00am and the wind was coming lightly outta the ENE @ 1-3knot . Kuta Reef did have a few surfers in the line-up catching waves in the waist high class. Middle Reef was picking up slightly more swell, as it always does and did have the odd head high wave. But I never saw anyone out there at the time. Airport Left was only showing in the knee to waist high sector but as usual there were already a few reef taxi’s parked in the channel opposite. Uluwatu would be the best bet for some better sized waves and you’d more than likely find it in the 3-4ft range. Best time to hit it would be when the tide starts to run back in around 10.00-11.00am. Weather wise around Tuban we’ve got more blue sky and it’s shaping up for another hot one. So the crew here on holidays should be happy with it. I’m almost pretty sure that we’ve got more swell in transit to our little island. I’ll have a good look at the synoptic charts as soon as I get this typed up. And if there is any changes in the waves today I’ll get back to ya’s with an afternoon up-date. Changing holiday dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,150 – 1US$=Rp8,850. I also gotta ask everyone that’s waiting for me to answer their email to just hang in there a bit longer I’m gunna be a typing machine today and try and clear the 100 odd letters in my in-box. Ok so for now have a good one and if ya got the time off you should do yourself a favor and get over here to Bali . Another thing crew, I am working on the VIDEO SECTION to try and get the latest vids at the front so ya’s don’t have to scroll through the whole 120+ clips , so bear with us. We’re also just about ready to unleash the NEW DESIGN baliwaves.com. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Dewa Made our man on location over at Lakey Peak has sms’d through that wave height has also dropped off over night and is now down in the 2-3ft range. Early morning surfing conditions were clean and glassy for the 22 surfers sharing the left and rights on “The Peak”. The total number of visiting surfers in the area remains at 50. for anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. Kandui Surf Resort / Mentawai islands; Ok everything’s ok over at the Kandui surf resort up in the Mentawai island chain of Sumatra . So we’ll be back to normal surf reports from the Kandui very soon.
