LUNCH TIME SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com daily 7/7 surf and weather information website. As usual I went down for the 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban . The wind was already coming outta the SSE @ 4-7knot and pretty well straight off-shore along Bali’s West Coast . Unfortunately though the surf was pretty well flat between Kuta Reef and Airport lefts except for the occasional half to one footer breaking down on Airport Left . But surprisingly enough there still looked to be about 20+ surfers enjoying the warm water and sunshine at least. The High Tide peaked at 2.2mtrs around 9.00am and that made things even worse. I also had reports in from down South that Balangan was breaking in the waist high range with 25 surfers in the water. Further down the line at Uluwatu wave height was still pushing head high with 30 surfers riding the Main Peak section. Up north from here Canggu was also picking up head high waves but also pretty well packed out 30+ surfers. Me I made the most of the “lay day” by getting my little double outrigger fishing boat tuned up and ready for some action. Weather wise there’s been nothing but blue sky and right now at 1.00pm the temperature outside would easily be 32 degree’s Celsius . The Tradewind has also picked up in strength, still blowing outta the SSE-ESE sector @ 8-12knot . Last night I managed to load a dozen or so photos into our Kuta Cam Gallery for ya’s and some new photos into the Body boarding Page . Now it’s time to try and knock off 20 or so email replies. Stay tuned though because we should have that new swell hitting the reefs anytime from now on. Don’t forget to check out the Mentawai surf report page and Pierre ’s Readers report Page if you want some more ! For the bodyboarders I’m gunna try and get ya’s some new images to drool over in another hour or so. Have a good one and hurry up and get those tickets to Bali locked in. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Dewa Made sms’d through his surf report for us at 7.00am and said that wave height is down in the waist to head high range out on Lakey Peak this morning. Surfing conditions were clean and smooth for the 10 surfers sitting on “The Peak”, 2 surfers on Lakey Pipe . There were also a few walkers heading down towards Periscopes for some practice. The total number of visiting surfers in the Lakey area is still holding in the 50-55 range. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s.
