MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves this fine Friday. Well some of ya’s might be thinking Slim was a bit slack yesterday with no new surf report on this page. But for those in the know knew that there were 4 NEW VIDEO CLIPS loaded up and even the body boarding crew got some new images on their page. Hey and not to mention Pierre who’s been loading his own surf report up on the READERS REPORT page just about everyday of the week. So Like I always say, there’s always something new happening everyday of the week on baliwaves.com. Anyway wave height was pretty ordinary yesterday, dropping down into 1-2ft+ range here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban . Even down at Uluwatu wave height was only just getting in at 2-4ft. This morning’s surf recon of the Outer Reefs was showing a slight increase putting wave height back into the 1-3ft range with the ever occasional bigger set wave hitting Middle Reef . Kuta Reef had some nice shaped 2-3 footers peeling off and there were already 15-20 surfers out there at 8.30am. The tide was still running in for a massive 2.7mtr High scheduled in for 11.00am-12.00pm and I’m thinking that there won’t be much left breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left when it fills in. Then when she runs back out for a 0.0mtr Low there’s gunna be nothing but coral showing through the late afternoon. The wind was already coming outta the ESE @ 3-5knot and off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu along Bali ’s West Coast. Uluwatu would be the best place to score some over head sized action today with mid morning and mid afternoon being the optimum time to hit it. Weather wise and right now at 9.00am there’s but nothing but blue sky and sunshine for all the holiday crew to make the most of. On the dollar exchanging program around the streets of Tuban; 1AU$=Rp7,500 – 1US$=Rp9,125. Looking ahead at the swell situation we should continue to see smaller waves in the 2-4ft+ range over the weekend then early next week a new swell system should make it’s presence felt “Every wave is new, until it breaks” Neil Young. Anyway stay tuned here to Bali ’s No.1 surf and weather info website cause we’ll keep it coming all through the weekend. Have a good one and hurry up and organize your friends for the ultimate surfing holiday experience right here in Bali .
Kandui Surf Resort / Mentawai islands 2nd May ’07 ; Yikes! That swell had to be the biggest disappointment to date for us, forecasting wise. I guess wave prediction still has a ways to go. The swell was definitely looking smaller this morning. The winds were out of the southeast at about 5-10 mph. The first boat headed for Hideaways, hoping to find at least a little for what we had yesterday afternoon. The waves were smaller and less consistent, but there was still the overhead set once in a while and conditions were good. There was one
boat on it, but they were cool so everybody had a good time. The winds started dying and some of our crew went out to 4 Bobs, which was starting to have a few sets roll through at about head high or so. Our second boat took off hoping to find something even better with the glassier conditions. They stopped at Nipusi when the winds started blowing light northwest (this is a crazy place for wind switches, eh!) and Nipusi is sheltered from that wind a bit. But it wasn’t too long before the winds got pretty strong so they decided to call it quits and head back. The winds got even stronger from the northwest later, then switched to light south later in the afternoon. Little local disturbence I guess. The boys talked about going to Hideaways to see what was going on there, but in the end it was a 4 Bobs afternoon, and not a bad one at that. We welcomed some new guests and a new doctor today, and said goodbye to some others and Dr. Larry. I know Karina Petroni will be back soon and I expect to see Jevon and Oli and Larry here again next year as well. It was nice having you. Looking for smaller swell tomorrow.
