AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Good afternoon folks and thanks for calling in for the afternoon run down on how it was today in Bali . I made my first surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 6.15am . Absolutely no change in wave height from yesterdays half to one footers, except that there was no wind present at the time. So, I went fishing again . But on the way to my favorite area I had to pass by all the well known reef breaks along Bali’s West Coast to get there. Going past Balangan there were another 20 odd surfers bobbing around waiting for the knee to waist high sets to turn up. Bingin even had 2-3 surfers in the water and wave height looked even smaller there. Uluwatu was the last hope along this side of the island and as I cruised past there were 15-20 surfers sitting on the Main Peak and wave height was at least a rideable at waist to shoulder high. The wind also played funny ganes today and started blowing outta the West at 3-5knot and has only just swung back to the ESE Tradewind position around 2.00pm. The best waves I saw today were around at Nyang Nyang’s , just around the corner from Uluwatu. Wave height there was easily 3 foot or head high and every one I saw (from behind) went through unridden. Weather wise it’s be hot and sunny with the midday temperature easily busting into the low 30’s on the celcius scale. Ok crew that just about sums it up for today but hopefully during the weekend we’ll see some fresh swell hitting the reef and beach breaks of Bali . The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Thanks.
