MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Hello crew, how are they hanging today. Welcome to the baliwaves.com SUNDAY SESSION . Well as ya’s can see in this latest batch of photographs I had the 600mm out in the channel at Kuta Reef again this morning. We had a slight boost in wave height today and there was some nice waves hitting the Outer Reefs here in Tuban . Kuta Reef was peeling through in the 2-4ft range and offering the odd sick barrel for some and plenty of bungy jumping practice for others. I was shooting just as the tide was hitting the bottom of a 0.9-1.0mtr Low , and the wind was howling off-shore courtesy of the ESE-SE Tradewind at 8-12knot . First up there wa a solid crowd of 40 odd surfers in the line-up but come lunch time the numbers were back around 15-20. Down at Middle Reef wave height was slightly bigger and pushing the double head high range on the bigger set waves. There was no shortage of surfers out there either. Airport left was also breaking pretty good at 2-4ft+ and probably the least crowded of all the big 3 locations on the Outer Reefs. Airport Rights woulda also had some waves but the wind woulda been a touch too strong putting chop on the face. Weather wise it’s been pure holiday conditions with nothing but blue sky and sunshine for everyone. And of course you all know that ya coulda have taken your pick of just about any other location all the way South down to Uluwatu . Ok folks I reckon my bit for the day and now it’s time for me to sneak out to KR for a back hand barrel or two. Have a good one what eva your up to and for God’s sake hurry up and get those tickets to Bali locked in for 2007. The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky our local man on the surf scene over there has sms’d through the good news that wave height has also had a kick over night and know breaking in the 4-5ft (upto double head high) on Lakey Peak . Surfing conditions were clean and glassy at 7.00am for the 15 surfers that were sharing the perfect left and right peak. Across the channel at Lakey Pipe the waves were going through unridden. Onkey also reports that the insane right hander down at Periscopes only had a total of 6 in the line-up. There has also been a max exodus of surfers checking out and heading back to Bali leaving the total number of visiting surfers in the Lakey Area at 40 in total. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
