MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning folks and welcome to the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report. First up we gotta apologize for that little scare yesterday about having to log in your user name and password to enter baliwaves.com, scary stuff hey. Anyway I have to admit Kuta Reef was peeling off perfectly again yesterday afternoon while the crew and I from Home base were in the water. Non stop 3-4 footers (a few feet over head on the 4 footers), and today my arms are feeling it. This morning I went down for my first surf check at 6.00am and wave height has throttled back down into the 1-3ft class on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. Just to make sure I went down for another check just now at 7.00am and that’s about how it is. Kuta Reef was still peeling perfectly across the reef at knee to shoulder high and at 7.00am already had something like 20 surfers in the lin-up. Middle Reef was holding slightly bigger set waves, up around the head high range, and there were also a few surfers out there as well. Down on Airport Left there wasn’t nearly as much swell showing, wave height was more like in the knee to waist high class. The tide was pretty well all the way up for a 2.0mtr High and the wind was coming outta the East at 2-6knot . Straight off-shore along Bali ’s South Western coast line from Legian all the way down to Uluwatu. I’m gunna be taking a close examination of the swell charts and see when we should be receiving our next swell. And I don’t think it’s gunna be all that long a wait. Weather wise outside we do have some cloud about for starters but all the same it’ll be just another hot and sunny day around Bali . The water temperature has finally cooled down after the last week of howling off-shore wind, but it’s still fine for boardshorts and bikini’s @ 22-23 degree’s Celsius. Today the best waves would be found down on the Southern end of the island at Uluwatu where you’d find wave height still in the 2-4ft range. The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky our local surfer on the scene at Lakey’s has sms’d through that wave height has also taken a beating over there today and dropped back into the 2-3ft range (head high set waves). Even though there was still some nice little left and rights breaking on “The Peak” for the 17 surfers in the water at 7.00am. Another 10 riders were sitting Lakey Pipe and 7 surfers made the trek down to surf at Periscopes. More new arrivals in the area yesterday pushed the total number of visiting surfers at Lakey’s back to 75. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
