AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy surfers and thanks for dropping by for the baliwaves.com surf and weather report . Well there was no need for speed getting todays info out to ya’s, I tell ya. I did go down for a surf check at 7.00am , just for that peace of mind of knowing for sure. Wave height on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing in the ankle to knee high range. But strangely enough there were surfers out paddling around at Kuta Reef, Middle Reef and a solid crew sitting out on Airport Left , for some reason un beknown to me. I also had a look up along the beach breaks at Kuta and there were plenty of left and right handers breaking in the knee to waist high range. That was through the morning while the tide was still reasonably high. I was also talking to one of the surfers staying here at Home Base Bali who made the motor bike mission down to Uluwatu . He told me that wave height was lucky to be pushing the shoulder high range on the bigger set waves. But even so he said it was still great to hang out down there in the cliff side warungs. The wind has been honking outta the ESE-SE upta 14knot and straight off-shore from Legian beach all the way down to Uluwatu. Weather wise we had quite a bit of rain fall through the early am but that was all cleared away by 10.00am and it’s been nothing but hot and sunny since. Hopefully sometime in the next 36hrs we should start to see a new swell system showing on Bali ’s famous reef breaks. I would also like to give a big thanks to Johnny Mc over in the USA for helping out the good people at IHF who run the Balinese Orphan Scholarship Program. John opened his heart and pocket kicking in US$1000.00 to help keep these people in a position where they can continue to help the under privileged Balinese kids. Ok that’s about us for now, small waves but hey how about that weather ! catch ya’s tomorrow team. Just a reminder that The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky our local surfer on the scene at Lakey’s sms’d through that wave height over at Lakey Peak has also taken another beating and dropped down a little more in size. Similar to Uluwatu with the set waves in the waist to shoulder high range. They should see some more swell over at lakeys anytime in the next 36-48hrs . For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there.
