AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hi again crew, thanks for hanging around but it’s gunna be worth it don’t worry. We eventually made it down to Uluwatu this morning aat 8.30am to find some sweet waves in the solid 5ft range hitting the Main Peak right in front of the cliff side warungs. Conditions were real clean with good off-shore wind and a smallish crowd of around 25 surfers in the lin-up. The boys from Team Diverse hit the water at 9.00am, just as the tide started to turn for the run out. Bad luck, because the waves started to get a bit wobbly and also shutting down. After a quick bite to eat we packed up and moved the show down to Bingin where wave height was coming through in the head to head high plus class and super clean and almost mechanical. There were also non stop waves peeling down the reef over at Impossible’s in the 2-4ft range. But Diverse Team rider young Dale Richards and local Diverse rider “Mega” it was Bingin and the boys put on a good show of tube riding. It was long after the boys hit the water that they were joined by Aussie legend Matt Hoy . I was shooting video at Bingin and as soon as I can thise stuff loaded up I’ll cut ya;s some clips to check out ok. I don’t really know whats going down tomorrow but after watching these young guns I have to go surfing !!! These current photos from Uluwatu today are courtesy of “Indrah”
MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping in for more news on what’s going down surf and weather wise around Bali today . Well I didn’t get a chance to do the afternoon up-date yesterday but I can tell you that around 10.00am wave height started to improve and by sunset time the Outer Reefs were breaking in the 2-4ft+ class and looking real promising for today. Ok, I’ve just got back from checking out the waves here on the Outer Reefs (6.45am) and yes it’s looking real good out there. Wave height is a consistent 3-5ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Kuta Reef was peeeeling off in the 3-4ft class and there were already something like 10 surfers in the water for the dawny. Middle Reef was picking up some bigger set waves, up in the 3-5ft class and likewise there were a few riders already on em. Down at Airport Left wave height was a solid 3-4ft and also looking well worth the paddle. The tide was just about at the top of the High water line and the wind strong outta the ESE-SE @ 8-12knot. Off-shore from Legian all the way down to Uluwatu. And that’s where Dewa Made and I will be heading with the Cannon XL2 video camera to get you lot some video clips. Uluwatu is going to be smoking in the 4-6ft+ class and I know the DIVERSE TEAM RIDERS are gunna be on the scene down there. Ok friends I’m keeping it short and tidy for now but I’ll give ya’s the full run down later on this afternoon. So stay tuned to the one and only original Bali Surf n Weather Report . Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky came through with his sms surf report from over at Lakey Peak and said that wave height had kicked into the solid 4-5ft range this morning. Surfing conditions were pert near perfect for the 20 surfers sharing the left and right handers on “The Peak”. There were also another 10 surfers pulling into sick pits across the channel on Lakey Pipe and 7 surfers making the trek down to Periscopes . Onkey says that the total number of visiting surfers has dropped back down into the low 60’s. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
