AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Thanks for tuning into the baliwaves.com and it’s time for the wrap up on todays surfing conditions. The time has just gone 5.30pm over here on the happy little holiday island of Bali and I’ve just got home after another surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. The tide was still way out and we’ve got about 80% of the reef exposed from the New Moon low tide, you could just about walk out to Kuta Reef . Wave height is still preety much the same as this morning, around knee to waist high plus. Middle Reef still had a few surfers in the water, with wave height in the waist to shoulder high range, but Kuta Reef and Airports were not worth considering. The wind increased in strength around mid morning into the 6-10knot class and still coming outta the SE and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. I’ve been talking to a few surfers today who have been out on patrol looking for waves, and this is how it was. Keramas through the early am had waves in the shoulder to shoulder high plus range and a solid crew in the line-up. Canggu was pretty well packed out and wave height was in the shoulder to shoulder high plus range on the bigger set waves. Balangan was also in the same size class at 2-2ft+ and down south on Bali’s swell magnet location of Uluwatu we had shoulder to head high on the Main Peak with the very occasional over head set wave. I’m also thinking that it’s gunna be around the same size again tomorrow, or even a touch smaller . So I’m going to fill up the boat petrol tank and try my luck trolling some lures.
MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves. I did the surf check on the Outer Reefs at 7.00am this morning, and typical when it’s my turn to go for a paddle the surf has dropped off. Wave height on the Outer Reefs was pushing the knee to head high range but with a long wait between the set waves. The tide was still running in for a solid High tide happening around 9.30am and the wind coming lightly outta the ESE-SE @ 3-6knot . Off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu, due to the shape of this island anywhere past north Legian and the ESE-SE Tradewind is blowing cross/on-shore. We’ve also got the New Moon happening today so ya can expect to start seeing some big high tides and dry reef exposing Low tides over the next few days. Kuta Reef already had a heap of surfers out there this morning with the set waves breaking in the waist to shoulder high class. Middle Reef was doing slightly better with head high set waves and Airport Left already had 20-30 surfers sitting in the line-up waiting for the 2ft sets. And when the High tide fills in a bit later on it’s only gunna be getting fat and full. The best bet for a wave today would be back down at Uluwatu or even up along the beach breaks of Kuta to Legian . Weather wise we had some more early moring rain and there’s still some cloud hanging about. But as soon as the Tradewind builds up some momentum it should clear away for more hot and sunny holiday type weather. And speaking of holiday’s here we are right smack in the middle of “the Peak” of our holiday period in Bali and as far as I’m concerned there’s still bugger all surfers about. Looks like the International media has done it’s job pretty good scaring first timers away from Bali this year… Ok have a good one out there what ever ya got going on today and feel free to drop me an email if you need any information on how to make your next Bali Holiday run a bit smoother. I’m gunna be putting me head down now and editing the Video Clips of Bingin and Uluwatu yesterday.
