AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping around for the run down of todays surfing conditions here in down town Bali . Well it’s just gone 3.00pm and I’ve just got home after doing the rounds from as far North as Tanahlot and all stops South to Uluwatu via boat. Early this morning the wind direction was weird and coming outta the SW @ 2-5knot and on-shore right along the West Coast. But around 9.00am the ESE-SE Tradewind kicked in and cleaned everything up. Wave height on the Outer Reefs was breaking in the 1-2ft+ range as the tide was just starting to roll back in at 7.30am and Middle Reef was the best option outta the big 3. From there I headed up North cruising past Canggu where wave height was showing 1-2ft looking from the back of the waves. Slightly bigger up at Tanahlot but I didn’t seeing anyone surfing at the usual places. From there I cut straight across the bay to Balangan where there were at least 20 surfers in the water and wave height was once again the 1-2ft+ range. No one surfing at Dreamland and there were 3 surfers in the water at Bingin. By the time I got to Uluwatu there woulda been 40+ surfers spread out from Temple ’s down through the Main Peak . Obviously most surfers were down there looking for some slightly bigger waves. Wave height down there was coming through in the 2-3ft+ range and didn’t look to bad. Weather wise we had some rain falling from about 6.00am up until 7.30am. Then it was all good from then on and turned out to be just another hot and sunny day around Bali . I had a bit of a sticky at the swell charts yesterday and it looks like we are going to have to put up with these smaller type waves for a few more days yet. Not to worry cause there’s always plenty of stuff to do around here. If there’s still some sign of any swell around tomorrow I’ll nick down to Uluwatu and get ya’s a few photos of what’s going down. Sorry about yesterday, not going down to Ulu. But it was worth going out to Airport Lefts and shooting a few photos of Dale Richards ripping it up instead. That’s about us for today but plenty more again tomorrow ok. So stay tuned to Bali ’s No.1 surf and weather website . Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky sms’d through his surf report from Lakey Peak and it sounds like the lucky buggers over at Lakey’s are doing a bit better swell wise than what we did today. Onkey reckons wave height was pushing 3-4ft out on “The Peak” this morning and surfing conditions were clean with off-shore wind. There 12 surfers in the water on the perfect left and right Lakey Peak and another 3 across the channel surfing Lakey Pipe . The total number of visiting surfers in the area has jumped up to 80. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
