MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy friends and welcome back to the baliwaves.com 7/7 daily surf and weather report website . Alas, we are still suffering the doledrums of a flat ocean again today, we’ll flat for Bali anyway. I was down doing the surf survey on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 6.30am . Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was a microscopic 6 inches on the bigger ones, about the same size as yesterday. But for the “gotta get in the water” type surfers that are here and stinging for a paddle they’d still be able to do it down at Uluwatu . One thing we can’t say anything negative about though is the weather we’ve got outside today. Bright blue sky and she’s warming up for another hot one around the beach. Right now at 9.30am the temperature would already be around 27 degree’s Celcius . Wind diection was coming outta the ENE @ 2-4knot and off-shore from Medewi to Uluwatu along Bali ’s West Coast. These are the kinda days that are perfect for getting out and seeing Bali (not just the beach and reef breaks). Really there’s much stuff to see and do on this friendly little island it’s not funny, and the last thing you need is to be bogged down in Kuta. Ok for today I’ve loaded some photos that were sent to us from the Famous Indies Trader Surf Charter boat from one of their latest surfing tours up in the Mentawai islands . Hopefully sometime tomorrow we’ll start to see a new swell hitting wrapping onto the reefs over here and we can start showing ya’s how good we get it in Bali . But for now have a good one what ever’s going down in your neck of the woods and tune in again tomorrow to see if it’s on. Bali is still the safest and best place to come for this years holiday. The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Thanks Don’t forget to check out the Mentawai surf report page and Pierre ’s Readers report Page if you want some more ! For the bodyboarders I’m gunna try and get ya’s some new images to drool over in another hour or so. Have a good one and hurry up and get those tickets to Bali locked in. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is .
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Dewa Made has filled his 7.00am sms surf report from Lakey Peak , letting us know that they are going through the same lack of swell as we are in Bali . But there were still 5 surfers in the water on Lakey Peak this morning. Surfing conditions were ultra clean and glassy but wave height was only just pushing the knee high range. Made also says that the total number of visiting international surfers is still only at 50, and that’s way down on previous years. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s.
