MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’day matey’s and thanks for calling in for another take on what’s happening wave and weather wise here in Bali today . But as we knew it would, wave height has backed off again for the punters. I went down to suss out surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs of Tuban around 7.15am and it was looking pretty weak. Actual wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was struggling in the knee to waist high range and the tide was still dropping out at the time. Kuta Reef, knee high at best, and too low even if you wanted to get out there. Middle Reef was being surfed and the bigger waves coming through were in the 2ft class or waist high . There was also somewhere around 30 hungry surfers hassling each other for em. Airport Left was just the same as Kuta Reef and not an option for the sane surfer . If I was really in need of a paddle today I’d either head back down to Uluwatu for head to head high plus waves. Or I’d head down the Kuta to Legian strip of beach breaks when the tide fills in and find a little shorey for a grovel in waist high waves. I shouldn’t say grovel really because there are some really good banks along the beach between Half Way Kuta and Padma St. The wind is coming pretty well straight outta the East @ 5-10knot and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Weather wise it’s looking good for the beach lovers with a mixture of scattered cloud and blue sky. Temperature wise we should see the mercury bust into the early 30’s on the Celsius scale, while the water temp ain’t too bad either at 22 degree’s Celsius. I don’t like admitting this but I reckon tomorrow it’s gunna get even smaller on the reef breaks, but that’ll give me an excuse to push the double outrigger reef boat down and go do some trolling. Ok then crew get some work done and get ready for the weekend . And if ya haven’t got much on then stick around the baliwaves.com cause we keep the reports coming all through it. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky has sms’d through that wave height over at lakey’s and say’s it’s pretty much the same as yesterday but maybe a touch smaller and less frequent with 2-3ft+ waves hitiing Lakey Peak . Surfing conditions were perfectly clean and glassy for the 19 surfers in he water at 7.00am. Also for the other 10 surfers sitting across the channel on Lakey Pipe . No one surfing at Nunga’s or making the trek down to Periscopes and the low tide factor woulda been playing a part in that. The total number of surfers staying in the Lakey Peak area has bottomed out and down to 50. So with more swell expected in the near future it could be a good time to get over there. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
