MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report . Well I’m happy to say that after two days of a hot and cold fever and flu I’m feeling at least 60% better, and ready for a run down to Uluwatu on my little motor bike. I went down for the early surf check of the Outer Reefs at 6.30am and wave height has increased into the 3-4ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was getting towards the top of the High water line and the wind is howling outta the ESE @ 15-20knot. Straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Kuta Reef had some 2-3 footers peeling along the reef, looking pretty good except for the strong off-shore wind. There was also no shortage of surfers arriving non stop either. Middle Reef was doing slightly better size wise with a more consistent 3-4ft+ of swell, Middle’s will be the spot as the tide starts to run out mid to late morning. Airport Left was breaking the best outta the big 3 this morning with a consistent 2-4ft (over head sets), plenty of surfers were out there into it as well. I dunno but it seems like all of a sudden since last Saturday there’s been a solid influx of new arrivals in the Kuta / Tuban area. And I’m happy to say that the majority are dollar spending Aussie’s ! Weather wise it’s been raining all through the early A.M. and was still drizzling when I was down there. Still plenty of cloud over head but the way that wind is howling hopefully we shouldn’t see to much rain for the remainder of the day. As soon as the coast is clear I’m heading for Uluwatu to get ya’s some new photos. No sign of Dan (K.B.R.C) and his photos for us last night so ya’s are gunna have to wait till I get home from Ulu. On the dollar changing scene on the streets of Tuban you’ll find that: –1AU$=Rp7,575 –1US$=Rp8,995 — Ok folks the time has just gone 7.25am over here, I’m gunna make another quick cuppa and check the equipment then hit the road. Have a good one what eva ya got on today and I’ll see ya’s after lunch with the gospel on Uluwatu . I also gotta say thank you for all the super positive emails that have been flowing into my inbox. Just wait till ya’s see the new baliwaves.com website we’ve been working on !!! Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky is on the ball for us again and has reported in via sms that wave height over on Lakey Peak has boosted into the solid 4-5f t range and cranking with the early morning high tide. There were 19 surfers sharing the perfect left and right handers of Lakey Peak . 15 surfers getting tubed outta their heads across the channel on Lakey Pipe . 5 surfers riding the long left hander down at Nunga’s , and severl surfers making the trek down the beach to Periscopes for the perfect right handers down there. Onky’s head count on the total number of surfers visiting the Lakey area has jumped to 75 give or take a head or two. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
