MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and thanks for dropping in for the morning run down on Bali’s surf and weather conditions . Ok, even though we’ve got another Public Holiday here in Bali today I still was down on the beach checking out what was happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban (the internet never has a day off hey). Wave height is still hanging in there in the 2-3ft range , dropping off a touch from yesterday. At 630am the tide was around the middle of the run in and the wind was howling outta the ESE @ 10-18knot+. Off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Kuta Reef had half a dozen early riser’s in the line-up and wave height was coming through in the 1-2ft+ range. The wind was really getting into it though and I watched a couple of surfers get blown off the back. Middle Reef was picking up the better size and breaking in the 2-3ft range and there were also a few surfers on it as well. Middle’s was peeling off with pretty good shape but it’s gunna get fatter as the tide reaches the top. Airport Left was doing 2-2ft+ and seemed less wind affected than Kuta Reef. Airports will be the better option when the tide fills in but expect plenty of traffic out there. With this strong off-shore wind ya’s can count out Airport Right as there’s nothing to help buffer the wind but a big open Jimburan Bay . I also had a sms from the Ando’s Family who were hanging out down at Bingin and they reckoned it was flat city down there this morning. Best bet for a wave this morning will be back down at Uluwatu where ya could expect to find wave height in the 2-4ft sector. Weather wise out there this morning we’ve got another cloudy start to the day and it looks like it’s pissing down up the coast to the
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; I’ve got the feeling that our man Onky over at Lakey Peak was keen to get in mthe surf this morning. This all he wrote in his 7.30am sms surf report. 4-5ft of swell hitting lakey Peak and 10 surfers in the water, another 10 sitting over on Lakey Pipe and a total of 80+ surfers in total staying at Lakey’s. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
