MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello crew and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves.com. After all this site is for you guys to help keep ya’s in touch with what’s happening over here on the happy little holiday island of Bali . Well so far this morning and yesterday for that matter you’d hardly think that we are practically in the middle of the Dry Season over here. Because it virtually hasn’t stopped raining that’s why. Right now at 11.30am it’s still drizzling and the sky is still looking loaded with some more to come yet. I had a flat tyre this morning so I had to push my bike down to the mechanic (in the rain) before I could take a look at the wave situation. There’s still some swell on the Outer Reefs , ranging between 1-3ft or waist to head high between Kuta Reef and Airport Right. The wind has finally backed off a bit, still coming outta the ESE @ 3-7knot. Off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Kuta Reef is the venue for the Billabong Grommet contest today and wave height for the kids was a very inconsistent 1-2ft , but that’s still head high for grommets . Middle Reef had the odd 3 footer breaking and should improve in frequency as the tide bottoms out through the early to mid afternoon period. Airport Left was looking the most consistent out on the big 3 and breaking in the waist to head high class. Weather wise I think I’ve already said it all, wet and humid. We’ve got the full moon coming up tonight, so we’re in for some big tide ranges over the next few days. The swell prediction charts are still showing that wave height should start to increase another foot or so throughout today and then peak around tomorrow at lunch time. Then she should settle back into the 2-3ft+ range for a few days. After that it’s looking like we’re gunna be in for some real solid waves hitting Bali, possibly upto 10ft on the old school wave call scale. So get ready for that. Ok that’s about me for now, but hopefully tomorrow I’ll be heading down to Uluwatu with Quicksilver rider Devis Ratif to see what we can find down there for ya’s. Plus we’ll be back to ya’s with the baliwaves.com SUNDAY SESSION , so stay tuned to the No.1 Bali surf report right here on the baliwaves.com. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky filed through his sms surf report at 7.00am this morning and said that wave height is still pushing onto lakey Peak in the 3-4ft range. A touch smaller than yesterday, but perfect shape and super clean windless surfing conditions. At the time of Onky’s report there were only 13 surfers in the water surfing Lakey Peak and another 5 riding the backdoor tube’s of Lakey Pipe . Then something like 10 surfers making the 2km trek down the beach towards Periscope’s perfect right handers. Onky reckons there’s around 85 surfers in total visiting the Lakey Peak region of Sumbawa as of today. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
