AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hi surfers and thanks for dropping in for the baliwaves.com SUNDAY SESSION . And I must say it’s been a pretty good day surfwise here along Bali ’s famous South western coastline . I did my first surf recon of the Outer reefs here in Tuban around 6.15am this morning and there was a noticible improvement from yesterdays almost non exisitent wave height. The wind was coming lightly outta the ENE @ 1-2knot and surfing conditions were clean and smooth. Kuta Reef was breaking in the 1-2ft range but still lacking in power. Middle Reef had waves in the shoulder to head high class and looking slightly better than KR. But further down at Airport Left wave height was a more respectable head to head high plus when the set waves came through and there were already a few surfers in the water having some fun. Around midday the tide filled in with a solid high water line and the wait between waves started to draw out. I headed down to Uluwatu at 4.00pm hoping to catch the low tide Racetrack section peeling off. Wave height was a good 3-4ft+ breaking on the Main Peak , while the Racetrack was a more like head high. The tide was certainly low enough that’s for sure but the swell direction was a still a bit too South for the Track. Way down on the Southern tip directly underneath the “ Temple ” there were half a dozen surfers riding some good looking waves in the 3-5ft range. Coming home just on sunset as I passed over the bridge at Padang Padang , Impossible’s had some nice head high lines peeling down the reef but I didn’t see any surfers left in the water at hat time. I was shooting some video this afternoon so these current images are only low quality frame grabs ok. Plus you’ll be able to see some of the video action las soon a s I edit the tape. Weather wise it was a good one for the beach with nothing but blue sky and sunshine. Tempeature wise it easily reached into the low 30’s on the Celsius scale. I’m thinking there should still be some more waves happening around Bali again tomorrow so tune in and I’ll give ya’s the run down on how it is surf and weather wise. The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line. Thanks Don’t forget to check out the Mentawai surf report page and Pierre ’s Readers report Page if you want some more ! For the bodyboarders I’m gunna try and get ya’s some new images to drool over in another hour or so. Have a good one and hurry up and get those tickets to Bali locked in.
