MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and welcome back for the baliwaves.com rundown on surf and weather conditions for today. Well there’s not a lot happening out there this morning. I went down for my first surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 6.15am and wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was only just showing in the knee to waist high range at best. The tide was just about on the bottom of the Low tide but not reef exposing being close to the middle of the Moon phase . Kuta Reef wasn’t really an option for a paddle, too small and the tide wrong. Middle Reef did have the odd waist high set pushing through with ok shape. There was one boat load of surfers making their way towards it when I was on the scene. Airport Left was also a bit too small for a wave, around the same size as Kuta Reef. I’d say for those surfers that have to get in the water Uluwatu would be your best chance to find wave height at least shoulder to head high plus. The beach breaks along the Half Way to legian stretch of sand would also be another option as the tide fills in some around mid to late morning. The wind has been coming hard outta the ESE-SE at Tradewind strength (8-12knot+) since dawn. So we’ve got good clean off-shore wind from legian to Uluwatu along Bali ’s South Western Coastline. Weather wise there was some rain through the early early am and now at 8.45am there’s still some heavy cloud floating about with patches of blue filling in the gaps. Tempeature wise we can still expect the mercury to reach the high twenties to early thirties on the Celcius scale. Looking to the future and hopefully we’ll see a new swell starting to show on the reefs come Friday afternoon and into Saturday. For now I’ve loaded another batch of photos from Kuta Reef in fine form from the 4th of May. I’ve also had some video footage (single chip) handed over to us at baliwaves.com from our bro Scott Thompson who’s staying with us here at Home Base Bali . So I’ll try and get that edited and loaded into our video section at some stage of the day. If there are any changes in our swell situation through out the day I’ll get back to ya’s and give ya the goss. Until latyer on have a good one and start planning your next Bali / Indonesia surfing adventure right now !

Plus the lads from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Menatawai island chain have got more on their Mentawai islands report page. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Thanks to our new surf reporter over at Lakey Peak , local surfer Onky we’ve got the goss on what’s going down over there this morning, Onky sent through his info via sms at 7.00am and says that there’s still 3-4 foot of swell hitting Lakey Peak . There 15 surfers in the water sharing the perfect left and right handers and another 5 surfers sitting across the channel on Lakey Pipe . Surfing conditions were still clean and smooth with no wind on the scene just yet. Onky also says that the Lakey Peak Boardrider Club is going to be holding their annual monthly contest this morning and he’ll give us the run down on the event later this afternoon. The total number of visiting surfers in the entire area has risen to 80, and that’s not too bad seeing as though we are almost in the middle of the peak surfing season here in Indo. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
