AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and welcome to the Sunday afternoon wrap up on what’s been happening surf and weather wise around Bali this day. And I tell ya’s I did cover a few miles in my travels. As I already mentioned, yesterday we had a solid increase in wave height with the odd smoking 6 foot set (that’s double head high plus) down at Uluwatu and a solid crowd of around 70 surfers to go with it. Devis Ratif from Quicksilver also phoned in to say that he was up at Canggu but it was pretty well maxing out at double head high through mid morning. Today right on que wave height started to back down but there were still plenty of waves around the island. The Outer Reefs here in Tuban were receiving 2-3ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left and Airports was the most populated with around 10 surfers when I went past there. Balangan was pretty busy as it has been of late with 20+ surfers in the water, wave height was showing 3 foot backs. Dreamland had around 10 surfers in the water but I didn’t see any waves break outside of the shorebreak. Bingin looked populated with some where around 20 surfers with 2 footers coming through. Uluwatu was by far the best along Bali’s south west coastline, wave height was a fairly consistent 3-4ft and there were at least 60 surfers spread out along the reef from Temple ’s down through the Main Peak . I even ducked around to the other side of the island and snuck a look at Nyang Nyang’s . There were two surfers on the right handers and it was looking pretty goos at 2-4ft . From there we made a straight line across the bay and headed for Canggu around 12.00 noon. By then the ESE Tradewind was peaking at 8-10knot so Canggu was pretty well blown out on/cross-shore. But there were still a few hardy surfers in the water and wave height was showing at 2-3ft+ backs . Weather wise we’ve had a mixture of sunshine and cloud with the majority being sunshine and blue sky. Temperature wise the mercury woulda busted the 30’s on the Celsius scale while the water temp is sitting around 22 degree’s Celsius. All in all it’s been a pretty good Sunday surf and weather wise and I don’t think there’ll be too many complaints heard from anyone visiting on holidays. Ray from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai islands of Sumatra has been good enough to file another surf report of what they have been up to and he’s also sent us some new photos to drool over. So when your done with this report hit on the Mentawai Surf Report page.
