**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and thanks for tuning in for the baliwaves.com surf and weather run down today. Well I tell ya it was hard getting up this morning after hanging out at the airport until 12.30am waiting for some new guests to Home Base Bali . But anyway I still dragged my sorry butt down for the surf check of the Outer Reefs of Tuban at 6.45am . Wave height actually started to improve in size late yesterday afternoon and has boosted into the 3-5ft range today between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Kuta Reef was cranking earlier this morning at the time I was checking it, while the tide was still reasonably high. Wave height on the sets was pushing a solid 4ft (few feet over head) but there was already something like 50 surfers on it . Middle Reef was doing 5ft sets and there were also a few guys in the water. Airport Left was breaking consistently in the 2-4ft class and there was also a fair few surfers sitting in that line-up. By the time I got my gear ready and parked in the channel at Kuta Reef (current photos) the crowd had thinned right down to 10 surfers due to the tide getting lower and the reef shallower. Another factor was the wind strength. It’s absolutely howling outta the ESE-SE with gusts upta 30knots I reckon. But never the less straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu, forget about anywhere else. By the time I finished shooting what I could the number of surfers left at Kuta Reef was down to 3. Weather wise it’s been pretty good out there with plenty of blue sky and sunshine. The midday temperature is currently around 28-29 degree’s Celsius outta the shade while the water temperature is a bit cooler at 21 degree’s Celsius. But hey still good for a swim in boardshorts or bikini. Back on the surf scene and everythings looking good for more waves again tomorrow and maybe even a bit more size, we’ll see what happens and keep ya’s all in the loop here on baliwaves.com. Now I’ve even started to load up the GALLERY for JULY but there’s still at least another 150 photos to add in. More good news for you guys is that my man on the GOLD COAST / AUSTRALIA has started to send us photos and surf reports live from the SUPER BANK at SCHNAPPER ROCKS . So before ya’s know it we’ll have another surf report page added onto the baliwaves.com. The good guys at the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai islands have also sent us through more surf reports and photos, so check them out before ya check out. Ok then friends of Bali have a good one and hurry up and get yaselves over here to Bali for the best surfing holiday you’ll ever have ! Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa; Onky 7.00am sms surf report was sounding real positive for the lucky bastards over at lakey’s. Apparantly wave height has boosted up into the solid 4-5ft range out on Lakey Peak and surfing conditions were clean and glassy at the time. There was 20 surfers sharing the perfect left and rights on “The Peak” and another 15 sitting across the channel at Lakey Pipe . Further up the beach there was 6 more surfers riding the long lefts of Nanga’s. There was also quite a few surfers making the 2k trek down to Periscopes for a few perfect right hand barrels. The total number of surfers hanging out at lakey’s has dropped down to 90. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
