**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hey crew thanks for dropping in for the baliwaves.com daily run down on surf and weather conditions in Bali today. Well I also better say that it’s just not Bali ya’s can check out here on the baliwaves. As ya’s already know, we’ve got Sumbawa local surfer Onky sending us reports from Lakey Peak . We’ve got the boys from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands filling us in on there part of Indo with reports and sick photos. And now we’ve gone International with our man on Australia’s Gold Coast sending us photos and reports from the ever famous Super Bank. Not too mention our roving surf reporter Pierre constantly filing reports and photos into the Readers Report Page, from where ever he chooses to surf on the day. So I gotta say, Baliwaves.com is delivering the goods. To find all this stuff just check out the “Surf report” menue over on the left hand side of this page. Ok let’s get it on. This morning I took a much closer look at the waves and sampled a few for myself out at Kuta Reef . Wave height has increased overnight and we got wave height ranging between 3-5ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was hitting the 2.1mtr mark between 6.00-7.00am this morning so Kuta Reef was prime . When I hit the line-up at 7.30am there was still the odd 5 footer (double head high) hitting the reef, but most of the set waves were averaging in the 4ft class. Even though the wind was a bit funky coming outta the NNE most of the waves were peeling off for a good 100yrds . No shortage of surfers either with the crowd peaking somewhere around 50. But I tell ya, there were quite a few *surfers that shoulda still been practicing down the beach. Coming in to shore I hitched a ride on a reef taxi coming back from Middle Reef with a few young Northern beach Sydneysiders on board. They reckoned it was pumping out at Middle’s with consistent 5 footers . The lads said they were in the water since first light and had it all to emselves for the first hour. Looking down to Airport Left and there was also plenty of waves coming through down there. Airport Left is still a good wave on it’s day but only runs for 20-30 yrds before fizzing out. I reckon Airport Right woulda been a good call as well for the dawn patrol, maybe tomorrow morning I’ll check her out for ya’s. Weather wise out there it’s clear and sunny, perfect surfing holiday conditions . Now at 11.00am the wind has swung around more to the ESE-SE and much cleaner off-shore @ 7-10knot . Just about every location along Bali ’s West Coast would be producing the goods today. Currently the temperature is sitting around the 29 degree Celsius mark and the water temperature was absolutely perfect at 22 degree’s Celsius. Ok friends of Bali everything is still the same as it’s always been over here in beautiful Bali and if it’s perfect waves and weather your looking for ya better get over here and get some. Dewa Made was out on the streets yesterday afternoon and has taken 30 or so photos from around town and I’ll try and get them loaded up onto the Kuta Cam page when I’ve got this stuff sorted out. Have a good one out there and see ya’s here in Bali in 2007. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky filed through his sms surf report from Lakey’s at 7.00am and said that wave height has also jacked over there this morning, pushing a solid 6ft . There was no one out taking on Lakey Peak or Lakey Pipe for that matter. But there was 10 surfers riding the long lefts of Nunga’s . He also said that Periscopes was a perfect 5ft and and that’s where the majority of surfers were heading for the morning high tide. The total number of surfers staying over there is still lingering around the 90 mark. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
