**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello reef riders and thanks for dropping in for the run down on the waves and weather here in Bali today . First up this morning I was down doing the surf recon of the Outer reefs of Tuban at 7.00am . There was still some ok size breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left , around 3-4ft with the odd bigger set hitting Middle Reef. Even though the wind was light on-shore coming outta the NW @ 2-3knot there were a few nice 3 footers peeling off on Kuta Reef , There was also another solid crowd of 50+ surfers in the water at the time. The tide was coming in for a 2.2mtr High happening at 8.00am so Middle Reef all though it had more size was a touch fat. But there were still a dozen or so surfers out there having fun. Airport Left was also in the 2-4ft range and no shortage of surfers. Sometime around 10.00am the Tradewind kicked in blowing outta the ESE-SE and straight off-shore from Legian beach to Uluwatu . One of my mates Jase surfed around at Airport Rights this morning and he reckoned there were a few good ones coming through in the 2-4ft class but a bit of a wait for the bigger set waves. Weather wise it’s been perfect for the beach goers with nothing but blue sky and sunshine. I just got back from doing the afternoon surf check and as the charts are saying wave height has dropped off into the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. They are also predicting smaller conditions again for tomorrow unfortunately. On the dollar changing scene around Kuta you’ll find that; –1AU$=Rp7,600 –1US$=RP8,980 –1EU$=Rp12,000. last night we managed to load a few photos into the Kuta Cam Gallery so ya’s can see what it’s like out there on the streets of Kuta. We also managed to load more photos in the July Surf Gallery , so take a digital tour while your on-line. As you all know (especially the Aussie’s tuning in) there’s so many travel warnings issued for Bali . And I can honestly tell ya’s that security levels over here have been boosted to a highly visual level. The Indonesian’s are doing their best to keep all foreigners safe and happy here in Bali . The travel warnings go something like; blah blah blah, we strongly advise you to cancel all non-essiential travel to Bali , blah blah blah. Well me personally, I consider getting perfect waves and long tube rides pretty farking essiential… Ok then that’s me for now but I’ll be out there somewhere collecting some new stuff for ya’s tomorrow. Don’t forget to have a flick through the Mentawai Surf Report / The Super Bank Surf Report or Pierre’s Readers Report . Catch ya’s later. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky’s sms surf report from lakey Peak said there was still some solid waves breaking on “The Peak” in the 4-5ft+ range at 7.am this morning. Surfing conditions were clean and smooth with the wind coming light off-shore at 1-3knot . There were 20 surfers getting into the left and rights of Lakey Peak and another 5 surfers riding Lakey Pipe . Another 15-20 surfers made the trek down to Periscopes and 5 more surfing the long lefts at Nunga’s . The total number of surfers staying in the Lakey area remains in the 90+ class. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
