**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers, thanks for dropping by the baliwaves.com surf and weather info website for your daily dose of Bali . But I’m sad to say there hasn’t really been any changes in our current swell crisis. I went down for the 7.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs and wave height was only just in the one to one and a half foot class. There was bugger all breaking on Kuta Reef and with the approaching 2.4mtr High tide set for 10.30am it’s only gunna get flater. Pretty much the same scenario on Middle Reef , but there was a few waist high waves breaking on Airport Left . I’d reckon the beach breaks woulda been an option for a paddle if ya had nothing else to do. And if ya wanted to go for a drive and a paddle then Uluwatu would be the best bet. Hopefully some time in the next 48+ hours we’ll see some better waves breaking around Bali ’s reefs and beach’s. Weather wise today it’s just another sunny Sunday for the holiday crew. Outside right now at 12.15pm the temperature would be sitting around the 30 degree Celsius mark, while the water temp is perfect at 22 degree’s Celsius. If your interested in what the dollar exchange rate is, you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp7,700 – 1US$=Rp8,950 – 1English Pound is pulling a massive Rp18,100. To give ya’s an idea of what it’s like shopping here in Bali . This morning I just bought a new pair of walk shorts (imitations) for AU$4.50 and a packet of ciggerettes will cost ya a bit over a dollar. A small beer at the Dewi Sri Restaurant will cost ya just under a dollar between 3.00-7.00pm. We’ve also got a limited number of baliwaves.com t-shirts getting made as I type so if ya want one your gunna have to let me know quick ! Ok then reef riders there’s not a lot else happening today. I have loaded 150 photos into the Surfing Gallery for July and 30 or so photos into the Kuta Cam Gallery . Catch ya’s again tomorrow. Don’t forget to have a flick through the Mentawai Surf Report / The Super Bank Surf Report or Pierre’s Readers Report . Catch ya’s later. Money saver tip #752 : Anyone wanting to get out on a 3 island 7 day boat charter to Lembongan, Lombok and Sumbawa drop me a line cause I was talking to an operator last night and he’s offering the all inclusive trips for just AU$625.00 !!! Hey and don’t forget when ya day is done and ya wanna kick back for a few cold one’s make sure ya call into the “The Dewi Sri” live seafood restaurant here in Jalan Kartika Plaza, Tuban (the seafood at Jimburan Bay is not even in the picture). Anyway the boss Mr Nyoman Korna wants all you lot to know that between the hours of 3pm till 7pm, 7 days a week for the next month, he’s going to be offering ya’s ICY COLD BEER at way below Happy Hour prices. A large Bintang Beer will cost Rp12,000 (AU$1.70) and a small bottle of Bintang goes for just Rp7,000 (AU$0.90). We’re not trying to flog ya’s surf trips or sell ya’s anything for that matter, we’re just trying to show ya’s how good it is here in Bali / Indonesia for a surfing holiday. We want you guys to come over and have a ball and then go back home and tell your friends how good it is
Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky sent through his sms surf report at 7.30am and says that there was a fair bit of cloud hanging over lakey’s this morning. No wind and surfing conditions were clean and glassy. But just like here in Bali wave height was down in the 1-2ft range. Only 8 brave surfers taking it on at lakey Peak and the total number of guests in the area has jumped back to 100 plus or minus. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
