**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello again crew and I thought I’d better fill ya’s in a bit more on what’s been going down out there. As ya’s can see in these latest photos to come outta Uluwatu. They were taken a few hours ago ok, but wave height hasn’t stopped growing and even here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban it’s just about maxing out in the 5-7ft+ range. So ya can easily add on another couple of feet for down South at Uluwatu. Just in time too, cause tomorrow they are holding the trials for the Rip Curl Padang Padang surfing contest, and this should help with the selection process. We’ll probably head down there with the Cannon XL2 video camera for a look see for ya’s. So tune in again then for more of everything here on baliwaves.com.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and thanks for dropping in for a fresh week of baliwaves. And it sure is shaping up that way. I’ve just got back from doing the 7.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. The tide is still on the way down for a 0.8mtr Low scheduled in for 10.00am and the wind is howling off-shore outta the ESE-SE @ 12-15knot . There were still around 20 surfers out on Kuta Reef with 2-3 footers peeling off, but starting to get a bit shallow. That’s where the Team from Home Base Bali are surfing at this morning. If the wind doesn’t get too much stronger it’ll get good again after lunch when the tide starts to fill back in. We’ll have a mid range 1.6mtr High tide around 4.00pm. For now Middle Reef will be the best of the big 3 as she’s a much deeper reef and better suited to the lower end of the tide scale. There were surfers out there and I did see a couple of set waves in the 4-4ft+ range. Airport Left was also looking pretty good but like Kuta Reef it was starting to get a bit shallow, wave height was similar to Kuta Reef @ 2-3ft+. I’m also thinking that when the tide starts to run back in after lunch we’ll see a further increase in wave height. Dewa Made has also hit the road for Uluwatu so we should have some more photos for ya’s to check out later this afternoon and I’ll give ya’s an afternoon up-date to go with it all. Weather wise today it’s just another perfect day all round, nothing but blue sky and sunshine for the beach lovers. Our man Dan from www.oceanartwork.com has sent us through some more quality photos from the SUPER BANK and you can check them out on Dan’s SuperBank surf report page. On our READERS REPORT page you’ll find that Pierre , our roving reporter was hanging out on Kuta Beach yesterday and he’s loaded some photos from there along with his thoughts on it. Hey and seeing as we’re starting to go International here on baliwaves.com if your in a position to file reports and photos from somewhere interesting anywhere in our Surfing World drop us a line and we’ll set it up for ya. Ok I’m gunna go and get some stuff done before Dewa gets back from Uluwatu and makes me start editing more photos etc. So until later this arvo have a good one and get those flights to Bali booked ASAP ! Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky filed through his sms surf report from Lakey’s at 7.00am and says that everythings rosey over there. Wave height has started to improve from yesterdays 2ft and now pushing into the 3-4ft range . Surfing conditions are perfect with no wind and a blue sky for starters, so it’s pure glass on the water. There were 20 surfers up for the early paddle on Lakey Peak and another 6 riders sitting across the channel at lakey Pipe . Onky reckons the total number of surfers visiting the area has jumped back to around the 100 mark. Also happening over at Lakey Peak next month the annual Dompu Pro open surfing contest will be happening from the 13th to 15th of August . All surfers are welcome to get over there and compete ! For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
