MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy surfers, welcome to the baliwaves.com Sunday Session . And lets get straight into her hey. I was down checking the waves at 7.30am this morning and there still plenty breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The wind was coming lightly outta the North @ 2-3knot on-shore but not strong enough to spoil anything. The tide was still running in for a 2.3mtr High set to peak around 10.00am. Kuta Reef was breaking in the 2-3ft+ range, peeling off nicely for the already strong crowd in the water. Middle Reef was getting more swell and still picking up the odd double head high set wave, but strating to get a bit fat with the approaching High tide. Airport Left was also getting plenty of action in the shoulder to head high plus range and there would be a few waves around at Airport Rights and probably similar in size. These current photos we have on display are from down at Uluwatu yesterday and as ya’s can see there were some good waves breaking on the Main Peak and Racetrack sections in the 3-4ft+ range according to our surfer on the scene Dewa Made. Our roving reporter Pierre has also loaded up a surf report and some photos from Canggu where he was surfing at yesterday. You can always check out what Pierre ’s been up to on the baliwaves.com Readers Report. Weather wise outside today it’s another beauty coming on for all the lucky buggers here in Bali and it’s only gunna get better as the day goes on and the ESE off-shore Tradewind kicks in. I had a bit of a check at the swell forecasts for Indo las night and it’s looking like no rest surfwise for this little island. More swell on the way to Bali and we might even see an increase in size kicking in later this afternoon. On the dollar changing scene around the streets of Kuta you’ll find; — 1AU$=Rp8,075 – 1US$=Rp9,050 – 1NZ$=Rp7,200 – Ok then the best bet for a wave today would be anywhere along Bali ’s South Western coastline, take ya pick. I’m gunna go a take a closer look at the situation on Kuta Reef as soon as the tide starts to run out. Have good one what ever you’ve got on out there today and we’ll be back with more photos / video clips and surf reports for ya’s again tomorrow. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky filed through his Sunday sms surf report from Lakey’s and says that it looked like the swell was starting to drop off a touch this morning. Even though there were still shoulder to head high plus waves peeling off left and right on Lakey Peak for the 20 surfers already up and at em. With the morning High tide coming on there were also waves being surfed at lakey Pipe and half a dozen or so surfers making the 2km trek down the beach to Periscopes . There was no wind so surfing conditions were ultra clean and glassy along with a clear blue sky. All up there’s somewhere around 95 visiting surfers staying in the lakey Peak area. Also Happening over at Lakey Peak next month the annual Dompu Pro open surfing contest will be happening from the 13th to 15th of August . All surfers are welcome to get over there and compete ! For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
